New Pulsar APEX thermal weapon sights
Pulsar just announced the release of their new APEX thermal weapon sights. It's an impressive offering for a thermal weapon sight series to start at $2,999. Right out of the gates I have noticed a few cool features and outlines them below. We still aren't anywhere near being able to give lead times or specs on available units. We just know that it's coming and it looks impressive!

Notable features
- The APEX can be powered externally AND send a video out signal for recording.
- Manual, Auto, and semi-auto calibration selections as well as noiseless calibration.
- 10 reticles
- 384x288 resolution cores
- Pricing starts at $2,999

- The digital zoom on the APEX is incremental in unit of .1X instead of 2X
Unknowns

- Will these units have adjustable brightness and contrast like the Quantum handheld units? If so, HUGE plus because you can control the image for all situations.

ANSWER: Yes they do have adjustable brightness and contrast.
- What are the reticle options? With 10 reticles there should probably be one for ever user out there. Just curious as to what they are. Maybe they are similar to the N550A reticles here

ANSWER: Similar reticles to the N550A and N750A.

- Are the displays LCD or OLED?

Not the best looking housing to me. That said the price point looks great and if these perform similar to my HD19S they will be great systems aleast performance wise. The 384 core in my HD19s gives me better clarity than any of my current 320/336 cored systems also.

Not yet, but once I have one in my hands I will definitely keep you posted. I did find out that the only difference in the "A" versions is that they use an LCD instead of an OLED. Kinda like the N550A vs the N750.

I was looking around on some oversea sites today and saw that there are two versions of both the XD38 and XD50.. with the main difference being the frame rate.. both have the option of either 9hz or 50hz. All 4 have OLED displays.

Thanks for your info. We don't always get the same units in the US that they have overseas. We have been notified by the manufacturer that the three units listed above will be available. Until they arrive, we don't know for sure. We won't have any 9hz units as that is not a good option for shooting. If a unit has an "A" tagged on it, it usually means it's an LCD display.

An XD50A would be a better unit to hunt with at 2X instead of the XD38A 1X even if the XD38 had an OLED.

Thanks for the videos Bud!

Is this the 1.45x magnification system? If so I guesstimate range to hog at 80 yards and coyote (first shot) 110 (second shot) 180 yards.....

It seems like the picture in picture feature is going to take some getting used to on the running shots, my eye was drawn to the top window when my mind was saying NO look at the bottom.

I like the dual view, aquire with lower shot placement with upper.
Better thinking was applied, I have not seen this on any other thermal weapon scopes.
Its one of those some will like it, some will not, but the option is there for those that like it.

The variable zoom with reticle is nice.

Yes it is. Not sure on total run time with the EPS3 or EPS5. I just know it will run all night so at least 8 hours. It works, it's just not a very streamlined solution. I like minimal cables and other gear hanging off your gun to get snagged on something when out in the field.

We are in the process of making an all in one cable, MDVR, and battery solution similar to the ThOR solution below for the APEX:

Very cool thanks for the quick response Tyler. I am heading to Freer, TX the second weekend in November for a hog hunt maybe I will rent it and see what happens.....and have the feeling end up buying one LOL

By the way the Pulsar N750 you guys sold me has been great and put a doubler on it and its even better....but that thermal thing has me really thinking.

From the video it appears that the xd50a has 4x digital zoom for 8x total, is that correct?

Do the "a" models have the PIP mode?
