Title says it all. I currently own 2 RRA 1911's, although both are earlier ones, not current production. Really just outstanding guns. Fantastic fit and finish. Superior accuracy. Really comparable to Les Baer and Wilson Combat without the price tag. My understanding is that some of the current models don't have the hand fitting that the earlier ones did, but they still look nice and seem to be pretty well priced for what you get. Yet, hardly anyone, even 1911's fans, seem to realize what great pistols these are. Look at any discussion of semi-custom 1911 makers. You will see Les Baer, Wilson Combat, Nighthawk, Ed Brown, Dan Wesson, Springfield, Fusion, Guncrafter, Caspian, STI. No one, and I mean no one will mention RRA and IMHO they should be near the top of any list of semi-custom guns. You guys really need to do a better job of marketing. On second thought, maybe not. Bought both of my RRA 1911's used. Keeping the general public ignorant of how good these guns are keep prices down on the used market. |

Thanks. All of our 1911s are custom built. Some to a lesser degree than others, but none are "assembly line" builds. Most are made to order for specific buyers, to their wants or needs. We aren't trying to have our 1911s in every LGS in the country (but it would be nice to get the Poly 1911s into more of them). We've sold every 1911 that we've made in the last 25 years, with the exception of a few on the shelf right now. Most of those sales come buy word of mouth or personal experience at matches, ranges, training centers, etc...We've had top finishers at Camp Perry and the Police Nationals. We have pistols in use by dozens of law enforcement agencies (that's hard to claim for 1911s anymore), several US military units, and at least one foreign military. That said, they aren't very pretentious. Just well built pistols made from good materials and both our own and what we feel to be the best, not the least expensive, third party components. You can keep one as a safe queen, but they really are made to be shot, and even shot a lot. Most are tighter after several thousand rounds than a lot of pistols (that sell for twice the price) are when brand new. Could we market them better or differently? Certainly. It sounds really cool to claim that your frames are forged from the reclaimed wreckage of a Soviet spacecraft, or that your grip panels are hand carved from the teeth of a megalodon, but that isn't what we're about.
