Verified .223 chambers per Colt. I am not affiliated with Arms Unlimited...just sharing something that has become available. Some rare European specification 6920 carbines are available for purchase at Arms Unlimited. Attached File These carbines are unique on the U.S. market as they are actually .223 and not 5.56mm. These carbines are serial numbered on the lower receiver and upper receiver as shown in the image below. They may be serial numbered on the bolt carrier group but I can't guarantee it. I will post back here if I get clarification. Attached File In the image above, yhe 'US' represents country of manufacture, the 23 represents the year of manufacture. I have never seen anything like this on the U.S. market. These won't last long. |

https://armsunlimited.com/colt-carbine-223-semi-auto-rifle-european-model/ Fully CIP compliant for the European countries that require guns to be produced according to the CIP specifications. All major parts are marked with the serial number and US23 which designates the country of origin and the year they were produced. |
Can't never could 'til try came along.

I have no real idea in this but, the “COMMANDO” marked lowers that we got stripped from AU were over-runs from Italian market rifles that saw 12” and 14.5” barrels. |

It would be interesting if someone buys one then puts a M-Guns 5.56 Gauge in the chamber to see if its really cut .223 or just marked / stamped .223 but really has a 5.56 chamber. I have a Sig 716 Gen2 Patrol rifle, barrel is stamped 7.62, sold as 7.62, but the chamber is really 308. |

Our barrel length limit is 12 or 12.5.. I guess Colt made the 16” just because that’s the best seller in the US. We can buy 14.5 colts without issue. As for the 223 vs 5.56… it’s more of a semantic issue… My Match Target is marked 223 on the lower but the Barrel was obviously marked 556 just like any other MT rifle.. once it arrived in EU the proof house sanitized the barrel with some XXX markings over the 556. It’s still chambered for 5.56 Another example is my surplus M16A1 converted to SA… the barrel did not have the caliber marking on the barrel from the factory (just C MP Chrome Bore) so the proof house added “.223 REM”… it still chambered for 5.56. Same story for my Galil.. 223Rem added on the barrel but still chambered for 5.56. The real news here is the SN added to the upper. |

Yes, I would bet that the chamber is really 5.56 and what makes its unique is the upper serial markings. |

Worth buying just for the low price of adding a new Colt. AU seems to have plenty. That being said, after a 5 year non stop buying spree of new Colts, I haven't bought a new Colt Rifle since right before the M5 was released. Not sure why lol. Going to pass on this one too. But that price is tempting. |

Yeah that’s the biggest news for us over here… beside the newer EU law the Italian gun laws has always considered barrel, bolts and receivers as regulated gun parts but since US guns are only serialized on the lower The proof house never bothered adding the SN to those parts.. just the usual proof test markings. That situation generated some grey areas where people could easily convert A2 into flat top or even swapping URG before selling a gun. That can not be done anymore. |

It's a 6920 with the 'CIP' markings w/serialized upper receiver. Consider, a very decent price too. For the US, I'm sure these will eventuality be on the rare list. Eta: too bad I'm saving for another Colt, the FBP2. |

I like the fact the upper and lower are seralized the same (unlike back when LMT also added serial numbers to their MRP line of uppers ... the upper and lower always had different numbers). This is a good price for a "complete" 6920 with a feature that may make it collectible in teh future. MANY years ago when Shotgun News was a thing, I bought a Colt AR-15 in 222 Remington (not a misprint ... 222 ... NOT 223). It was an export model for countries that prohibited civilian small arms ownership in "military calibers". I actually LOST money when I sold it to a collector. Nobody seemed to know where to find 222 ammo, haha. It was a AR-15A1 configuration with the "slab side" style lower, A1 FA, A1 rear sight, and A2 handguards. The lower was marked ... Rampant Horse Symbol / Stylized COLT name AR-15 A2 Cal. 222 Sporter II Ser. SP 21xxxxx At the time I thought I did well. I was half-way collecting Colts at the time, and thought it was very neat. However, as an "odd ball" caliber it didn't entice many buyers when I tried to sell it. Eventually the "sales forum" on a "german assault rifle named forum" that I spent an exorbinant amount of time on found an advanced collector that wanted it. The reason I bring this up, the Export 6920 is priced less than a normal one and would appeal to a shooter as well as collector. Its a win/win while my 222 was a collector only gun. Go buy some or you'll regret it. |

I got tracking this morning but no movement yet on UPS. AU site shows 259 in stock currently. I will post photos with impressions if nobody does before I receive mine. AU has very little info about these on their website. Just one photo of the receiver with the special engraving and some vague comments about its unique Euro CIP compliance that I have never seen before, can find very little info about, and have never seen anything similar from any manufacturer to compare it to. That being said, AU has delivered in the past on unique colt items. The Colt M203 w/38mm barrels, Rare EURO Commando Receivers, Rare folding Colt stocks w/ proprietary bolt, 9mm tiger stripe receiver set never sold before, and a storage closet full of unique Colt lowers. They definitely have a great connection at Colt who has hooked them up in the past. If this was anyone other than AU I would be considering this a possible scam, but even then it would be a scam to sell $895 Colt 6920’s. So that just doesn’t make sense. Worst case this is an $895 Colt 6920 engraved by AU for export and never shipped. Best case it comes with a unique box label and/or owners manual that shows it came from the Colt factory this way. Either way it’s an $895 Colt 6920 “Warhammer” with a cool story. It doesn’t seem like a bad deal either way. If it’s Best case I will be ordering a couple more and calling a few friends before I post an update here. Just saying. |

U.S. firearm manufacturers shipping AR-15's to the European market isn't a common occurrence. CIP is Europes equivalent to the U.S. SAAMI standards organization. Firearms manufactured outside of the EU have to clear CIP inspection before being allowed into their intended market. That being said, AU has delivered in the past on unique colt items. This will go down in the collector books as another unique collectors opportunity Worst case this is an $895 Colt 6920 engraved by AU for export and never shipped. These were not engraved by AU. These were production overruns at Colt. Best case it comes with a unique box label and/or owners manual that shows it came from the Colt factory this way. The carbines are supposed to come new in the box with serial number matching label. I don't anticipate any type of foreign language label or anything. It would be cool if it had a foreign language manual of some type but I don't anticipate that since English is very prevalent in Europe. I just sent AU my ship to FFL copy yesterday. I don't anticipate seeing mine until late next week at the earliest. |

Interesting that the barrel is C MP marked like older Colt's rather than the M and P separate. |
