Rarest Larue Rifle?? (Page 1 of 2)

What"s the rarest LaRue rifle?  Primary arms had ONE Five factory FDE 7.62 OBR one time, so I think that probably wins, barely nudging out the total of seven of the never-released  2020 version of the siete.

What am I missing?

I was close to buying a FDE OBR just because the OBR is the finest gas 308 I’ve ever shot.

This is a great thread. Thank you OP. In for the answers.

I’d say the UDE tOBR ranks up in rare limited run LT guns (not one offs).

I’d bet the CIA 7.62’s they built. I think they called it the Larue GPR (Gas Precision Rifle) or OBR Hybrid .

FDE  14.5” and 16” OBR’s w/ 0 moa rail, Surefire brakes and Surefire RC mini suppressors.

I always wondered how many "broken" swan mounts Mark ended up with?
It sure was nice getting the "trade-in" to upgrade all of mine to LaRue products!

What started it iirc

Something on the broken mount swap, was not osr but was number 17

Awesome Rifle.  Two questions:

1) What year were those made?
2) Do you have any photos/have you considered replacing the black polymer pieces with the UDE ones?

IIRC there's 30 or 40 PredatOBR's floating around that he laser engraved and donated to a Sheriff's Dept. I don't think there's any special value to them but they are rare. Several regulars here snapped them up when the Dept traded them in.
The 2nd is not about hunting, it never was. It was put in place for one reason and one reason only. You can't have them, we won't give them up, so get over it.

Colby's OBR actually came up for sale on GB a couple of years ago.  It was pretty beat up, but it "came with" a weekend of guided hunting with Colby on his property.

ETA:  I talked with Ronnie Barrett (at John Rich's house, since I'm name dropping) not long after they did the 50BMG Top Shot episode.  Ronnie told me that they didn't even know they were filming the episode with their rifle, but obviously loved that they did.  He then told me that I should buy one of his 50BMG, and I laughed at the notion because $8-12K for a gun was absurd to me (at the time).  But that kicked off me finding a REC7 and then an MRAD (neither of which I have now).

I did eventually get a 50BMG, but not one of Ronnie's . . . . I got one that will actually do better than 6-8 MOA

want to say 1 complete 22lr from UHFO  (already mentioned)

then
maybe the original Siete pistol/rifle (similar setup to Thompson Contender/Encore.... came w/ pistol brace, 10" 308 barrel, stock & 20" 6.5CM barrel)
there were 5 for NOLO winners
(1 got posted from winner #1)
&   (another 1 made it to GB, unsure what happened w/ others)
&  maybe 10 that they had at SHOT & DSC shows (maybe other shows too)

but i recall reading something about an FFL throwing a stink about it .... due to being shipped w/ rifle barrel attached & not the pistol one
& shortly after... seems they disappeared for a "while".   then got completely redesigned chassis & no more pistol

Forgot about the NOLO “giveaway.”

That certainly didn’t generate the buzz one would hope to conjure up.

I don’t even remember it happening.

I actually snagged the twin Top Shot OBR (sequential serial numbers) of Colby’s. The special effects / armorer dude Clay Van Sickle ended up with this one.

Came with a little brown paint from the benches they were shooting from in the competition, but no major damage and still shoots 175 FGMM & M118LR into tiny little groups. Has a temporary NXS on it for now.

BUT, other than being early OBR serials (Post OSR), nothing super rare.

I would say the LaRue TwentyTwo from the monthly contest is the rarest. @SirJames556 I believe won that one.

Very cool.  Thanks for sharing.

I looks like you got at least part of a SPOTR kit, too.  I still have the I-rail and the "Z-Mount" (and the big padded case) from the one I had (actually listed for sale on a different firearms forum).

I've got one of these.  30 to Burnett County Sheriff's office.  The one I received didn't even look like it had ever been shot.

I tried to buy a FDE tOBR once. When I called LT and gave them the serial number, they said that that serial had left as a 7.62 tAR Heavy - not a tOBR. But it 100% had a tOBR upper/handguard system. I can't remember why I didn't snag it, but it was strange that LT said it was something other than what the seller claimed (who bought it new from LT). And the seller has great feedback, so no reason not to believe him.

Somehow I manged to wind up with two of the Burnet Co Sheriffs Office PredatOBR's. One had very little rack wear and the other looks like it never left the case. Best $2500 I've ever invested.
