I’m looking for a .22 can around 6” or a little over for an AR .22lr conversion. The Resistance caught my eye while looking through the catalog, but there’s not a lot of info floating around the interwebs; it’s eclipsed by the Checkmate and other Griffin cans. If I use the taper mount, it’d be perfect in length, and it’s very inexpensive. What I’m wondering is, does that longer blast chamber affect FRP or accuracy (by giving gasses opportunity to pass the projectile)? I’d be using subsonic .22lr exclusively, through an 8” Bbl. Doesn’t have to be the quietest, just hearing safe on a semi from first round to last, and accurate enough to be a good training analog. I’m also eyeballing 9mm cans because I probably won’t clean it as often as I should and those have steel baffles. |

The Res 22M has very similar sound performance to the Checkmate on .22lr due to the wider diameter of the tube allowing more internal volume at a shorter length. It's also wipe compatible which improves sound performance and FRP quite a bit. The shorter distance to the blast chamber of the Checkmate nearly eliminates FRP, but even on the Res 22 FRP is very minimal. The Res 22M will be hearing safe on any setup you want to run it on and accuracy won't be an issue running the taper mount system. Direct thread groups tend to open up a little more, but the taper mount is a very accurate system that forces proper alignment of the suppressor keeping POI shift and accuracy changes to an absolute minimum. The Checkmate would probably win out in an accuracy test utilizing EZ-LOK or direct thread over the Res 22. The other nice thing about the Checkmate is the cleanability of it for .22lr thanks to the O-ring sealed CARBON-GARD baffle stack. |

@1168RGR If the CS guys had any 9mm baffles from the older revs- those are stupid quiet on .22lr. Not adding much to the discussion I suppose, but if you never want to clean a .22lr can, the rev 9 with the old baffles is a neat settup. The Checkmate HD with the carbon guard is slick as hell in that you can shoot a ton and get it apart. The Res .22 doesn't gain or lose any sound performance adding or deleting the taper mount and its length. It's weird. Or maybe I needed to use a short muzzle brake to achieve a reduction of sound and didn't when I used that and got that observation and wondered why it didn't improve.

Thanks. There’ll be a Resistance 22 in my future as funds allow. Which should be easy, because it’s crazy inexpensive. I’ll get a Checkmate sometime in the future, also, but I already have less hosts than cans for .22s, so it’s not currently justified. The reason I’m looking at the Resistance is that I need a long one for an ongoing project. |

If I were looking at the Optimus Micro, does the EZ Lok adapter get me over 6”, including the muzzle device? I didn’t realize the Optimus Micro was so inexpensive; for some reason I thought it was priced more like a typical 5.56 silencer. With the Micro, I’d be able to use rail covers on a SR Rigid handguard. The origin of all these silly questions is that I bought a custom 8” .22 AR conversion barrel with the intention of tucking my orphaned Mask under an 11.5” SR Rigid. Well, I must’ve been drinking when I did the math on that, because that’d be an inch shorter than desired. It would end up sticking out about as much as an 11.5” with an A2 instead of like a 12.5” w/A2. Might just go with a Micro plus taper adapter. Better to be a half inch longer than planned than an inch under. We’ll see….I’m not in a huge rush. |
