I have been a RifleSpeed owner for about a month and was finally able to shoot my AR with it and figured I'd post a mini review.
Like most here, I first found RifleSpeed from a random ARF thread and shortly after that TFB did an article on them that I found, that article is linked here. Now I had been completely happy with the POF DIctator however the gas adjustment knob sat just behind the end of my handguard, meaning I still need a tool to adjust it. Which I found mildly inconvenient as I wasn't constantly cranking the knob but would like to switch between shooting with a can and without. So I decided to take the plunge. Ordering Let me start by saying that the CS during the ordering process was fantastic. All over the site they instruct you to order the gas tube separately, I suppose in my excitement I forgot. IIRC I received one email, two phone calls, and a text message from them about it. They bent over backwards to correct my idiot mistake. I finally got time to call back, the owner was extremely friendly and was nice enough to waive the shipping on the tube. Assembly So I opened the packaging and assembly was simple. Pic 1 Pic 2 The goal was to have the gas drive adjustable without a tool, which unfortunately the DIctator was a touch too short. Mission accomplished, here is the finished product Pic 1 Pic 2 Shooting IIRC, RifleSpeed advises starting at position 4. I decided to start at position 3 (less gas) with one round in the mag to test the bolt catch. Interestingly the bolt locked to the rear.. sort of. The bolt locked but the bolt catch appeared to be behind the bolt lugs. Took out the mag and the bolt stayed open, very interesting. Opened to position 4 and had the same result. Switched to position 5 and got perfect function. At this point I'd like to note, switching modes (with & without gloves) was easy. It wasn't too hot, I didn't need any tools, it was easy to grip, it was easier to adjust than the rheostat on some cheap stiff Chicom red dots I've tried, but was secure enough that I know it won't ever accidentally move. I then put on my can starting at position 5. Perfect function, and I reduced it and reduced it, I reduced it all the way down the lowest position in position 1. I was still getting perfect function. It is worth noting I felt less gas in the face with RifleSpeeds position 1 (and less recoil) then my zeroed DIctator gas block, but then again in addition to the RifleSpeed gas block I also added an AR Gas Vent to replace the forward assist, so take that for what it is worth. But I did feel much less gas in the face than any other previous shooting with this host and this can. I finished the day taking off the can and returning the block to position 5 and continued to shoot problem free (after switching to Magpul mags because my new ETS mags weren't feeding great). Thanks for posting your results! You have a badass setup there. The spare Plunger (#937) that came in your kit is a bit longer than the Plunger (#917) that came installed in your Gas Control. If you want to try that longer Plunger you can get more restriction which would allow you to have the BCG not lock back on those low settings. I suspect that you are very close to the ideal setting with that shorter Plunger, though. That’s how we prefer to set up most carbines- so that the gas can’t possibly be restricted far enough to allow a malfunction when suppressed. If your unsuppressed setting for LRBHO is 5 on a carbine-gassed 11.5” then your suppressed setting is likely ideal at #1-1 with an unmodified gas port. Thanks again!

I have a RS7519 on a 10.3 right now and I cant get the bolt to cycle at all going from 1-12. Problem is after last range trip (first time testing it) I took off the handguard and realized the GB was super crooked. Issue is the GB pinning is not lining up with the RS7519. Barrel was bought way before RS was around. Also barrel isn't dimpled so it's a complicated issue right now. I do have a TRIARRC 11.5 enroute that was specifically drilled for the RS GB so that should hopefully alleviate my issues.

Also, if you’d like to switch to the RS7533 configuration on that 11.5” we can do that. |

Appreciate the offer however I already bought one for the 11.5 so just gotta figure out what I'm going to do about the 10.3

At the moment, the only options with a 10.3 are to run an RS7519 with an 8"-8.5" handguard or to have the Control Knob buried under a 9"+ handguard and use a cartridge or something else to make adjustments. We are continually working to increase compatibility with additional configurations. We have a shop Mk18 and getting a solution put together is on the project list. We actually worked on it some yesterday. Thanks again.

View Quote Hanguard isn't the issue the problem is the barrel I am using doesn't have a dimple to help with gas block staying in place as well as GB pin doesn't line up so no ability to use GB pin to help keep in place. |

That'll do it. Have you seen this:

Finally got around to getting my 11.5 out today to check out the new AGB. Couldn't find my extra Griffin Armament mount so I put an old SF muzzle brake adapter on instead. Ran 55 Gr with the SF SOCOM can (762). On setting 5 it worked with no problems. On 4 it almost made it but no dice. Ran a LANTAC EBCG and Radian SD. Very minimal gas and shot very smooth.

Great report. Glad it is working well for you. With your minimum LRBHO setting on 5 you can switch to a Plunger 3 sizes shorter and have your LRBHO+1 setting as #1 if you wanted to. That insures you'll never inadvertently restrict gas too much causing the gun to fail and gives you the most room for adjustment with weaker ammo in cold temps, unsuppressed, etc. Totally optional to do that, but that option is available with Plunger selection. Thanks for your purchase and for the info!

Sort of an update. Went and shot with my new ARX suppressor. Bolt holdback is #3 and with a LANTAC enhanced BCG and Radian SD CH it was a pleasure to shoot. No gas face and recoil is so smooth. Definitely a worthwhile purchase and addition to your SBR.

Great to hear. Thanks for the update!

One other update went to the range again today and realized last time I didn't do the one round bolt hold back test last time. So did 3 tests and hold open on setting one worked. So started shooting through a mag and had 2 FTF. Switched to setting 2 and no issues. Shoots super smooth and again no dreaded gas face.
Once again kickass upgrade that is totally worth it. |
