Rudy, I picked up a 16" D/I upper back when I was down in NJ, which I'm looking to SBR the lower it is attached to (switched out the fixed stock when I got up here, and running your magazines in it). Just wanted to see if that is something I can have you do. Was looking to put the barrel just past the end of the forend, which I'll probably measure tonight when I get home to figure out (want to say like 11" to 12" range, if I remember correctly the last time I looked it over), and then thread it to .578x28... as I'll likely get a suppressor in the upcoming year or so. Any issues going shorter with a barrel like that? Also, reading the SBR regulations for engraving, would it be possible to have you also stamp ".45 ACP" on the barrel so that I can just do the name and location on my lower? Wanted to SBR that lower, as it is still a standard pattern lower... so can swap uppers if desired (after notifying ATF). Thanks for your time. Hope all is well down there. |
Call me at the shop, we'll work out the details on sending upper in ......Be happy to shorten or rebarrel. We can mark but I don't think it is a requirement they the lower be marked for caliber. As far as .578 x 28 I prefer not to as that allows the nielson device (spring loaded piston) to be used on the rifle. IT WILL MALFUNCTION. I know of no suppressor manufacturers that don't make a 5/8 x 24 fixed suppressor mount for their can. My apologies on the tardy reply....I have been slammed in the shop for a couple of months and just haven't been on line as much as I'd like.

Thanks, Rudy. No big deal on the reply. Been a little busy with work as well, but I should be getting the ATF crap into them somewhat soon. Had a coworker do my fingerprints, so everything is ready to go out. If those measurements work, I'll put the barrel length/OAL down on the Form 1 and submit it. From what I read, caliber should be marked somewhere... but doesn't need to be on the lower. If its on the barrel... good to go. Wanted to keep it on the barrel, so I could leave the lower unmarked. Any other upper I toss on is going to have the caliber on it, as well. For the thread pitch, 5/8" works. I was looking into the options, and think I read the similar. Must have just got .578" and 5/8" reversed. |
| At the moment I have no way to mark the barrel...I'll look into picking up some stamps....If we just 45 on it that should be cool. |
