Back from Shot and normal hours back in effect. Lots of good stuff at Shot and some bad stuff- for example L3 announcing they will stop commercial tube sales. Hopefully this will be just temporary. However they have new players in the tube division there and some of the older folks have retired. With a new regime often comes new changes, which aren't always for the better. For example the early 2024 change of making "Unlimited" (UM) grade tubes LIMITED. That isn't speculation or something they "were talking about"- that happened. What it meant was AVERAGE specs on a batch of tubes absolutely went in the toilet. Even for the better 20UM grade we bought, AVERAGE FOM levels dropped by about 40% 18UM was worse so I was told by six different L3 tube dealers as we sat around and talked about this Wednesday night at the show. So hopefully your not waiting on L3 tubes- and NO we do NOT currently have any L3 tubes so this isn't a marketing push or any BS like that! When we had L3 tubes we did as we do everyday with Elbit and Photonis tubes, you could call up, get your pick and it would be shipped IMMEDIATELY- no 12 week take your full money upfront and make you wait BS. If folks are stuck in that position right now they ought to be very careful... The days of getting some super spec'ed out tube and paying 18um low grade pricing is long gone- and according to the head of the tube sales at L3 they are stopping commercial tube sales to focus on selling completed L3 units. This same story was confirmed by six different L3 tube dealers also. Yes I'm sure you will hear all kinds of stories about this, that will vary by if the dealer's main focus is L3 and if they are stuck with orders pending now (taking money upfront), etc. Understand once again, WE HAVE NOT currently have any L3 TUBES TO SELL, hence we have no "dog in the fight" as they say. |
