“If you have a weapon light you don't need a flashlight.” Is a sentiment heard in the gun world all too often, and that many including myself have fallen victim to. After making this argument to some coworkers that a flashlight isn't required, all it takes for them is to ask me to point my light at them. Of course not wanting to point a loaded gun at my co-workers I saw their point. So what is the point of a weapon light then? For me, it’s a better to have it and not need it mentality. Threat identification is crucial in any situation where a decision has to be made on whether or not to act. And to avoid being the one escalating the conflict, or even for just everyday use the handheld should be the default. It doesn't look good if someone sees you use your Glock to find your keys in the movie theater. |
