We know by now that two stage triggers are better in every way. And they can't seriously be any easier to manufacture. So unless you're selling to a military customer that is required to buy milspec parts per DoD/DoW policy, which Palmetto normally isn't doing, then why does anyone still bother making milspec triggers? Also why bother still making milspec charging handles? Again, I have a hard time believing they are actually any easier to manufacture than some sort of ambi charging handle design. So why not design a Palmetto ambi charging handle and just make that the standard on everything going forward? |

I had a “Gas Buster” charging handle. It didn’t bust gas. I had an expensive BRAVO COMPANY charging handle on an AR-10. It unlatched, and bopped me in the nose on recoil. Basic triggers interface with speeder-upper gadgets reliably. |

Marketing in general disagrees with you. Often manufacturers will make a good, better and best option. Or the market ends up doing that. Good function fine, look acceptable and last pretty long. Better might function slightly better, look better, or last slightly longer. Best options are made with better materials still, best finishes, take more processes to make or just more material. People just getting into the AR game aren't always going to be comfortable changing out their trigger. Not everyone wants a 2 stage or even honed single stage. They want to keep their rifle as is. The people on ARFCOM don't really represent the vast majority of AR owners. So assuming they have the same desires of a trigger isn't realistic. Most just want to buy their rifle and go to the range once or twice a year. For those that want to change out triggers- go for it. But leave the milspec for the mass public. |
