I have one in my shack, and like it a lot. Front firing speakers are awesome when you can't hear squat.  I have an ft7800 in the truck, and an ft7900 in the xterra. I take the ft60 for portable if I want u/v coverage, or just use the mobile. |

Can't remember if I posted in this one or not, but: Licensed since 1980, Advanced in '81 and Extra in '89. Have more equipment than 20 hams need, and most of it restored or refurbished by me. I like to buy broken things and make them better than new. Eventually I sell a piece or two and rotate the money into the next project. Admin a couple forums and mailing lists scattered around the 'Net. These are ham radio/electronics related and three are gear-brand-specific. |

Tech and General in 2008, finally got my Extra in 2016 (was just lazy). VE with the Laurel VEC. Also a volunteer for the VE testing sessions at Dayton every year. HF Rigs: Yaesu FT-897, FT-847, FT-818, Kenwood TS-480SAT VHF/UHF Mobile Rigs: Yaesu FT7100 (x3), FT7800 (x2), FT7900, FT8800 FT2800, FT2900, FT2600, Kenwood TM-271A, TM-281A, (Plus some older ones), a few chinese rigs. VHF/UHF HTs: Yaesu FT60 (x2, 3?), VX150, VX170, Icom IC-V80 (x4?), Kenwood TH-K2AT (x2), TH-K20, QRZ-1, and a freakin' pile 'o chinese radios. I've got a couple dozen (maybe more) TNCs of various ages, brands, and capabilities. Some are just packet, some do PACTOR, RTTY, AMTOR, WEFAX, etc. Mostly AEA/Timewave and Kantronics. Nobody seems to want them anymore, so I'm able to pick them up cheap. I have some digital interfaces, some built from kits, some commercial. Still need to get antennas up at the home QTH, finally got a desk setup again so I can start populating it once I get the antennas installed. I have two dual band verticals to install, already have a 220 antenna up, and I need to throw up some kinda wire antenna for HF. Might just make an end-fed and string it from the garage roof (off of the mast of one of my verticals), out to the backyard. |
