"I don't think 40 had gone long enough to reach far out west, and 20 seemed like it was to long."
Agreed. Seems like the solution would be to start at a later time so 40 is viable. |

By October I'll probably be able to check in on 15 and 10 meters. |

I should have stuck around for 20m but I had to take a phone call and the net was over by the time I got back in the shack. |

View Quote It was 7pm local for me, and that was a good time. Are you planning to stick with UTC when we go back to standard time from DST, or adjusting an hour to keep it the same time of day? In any case, I never know what kind of sports or after school activities I might end up doing with the kids once school starts, but this time/day worked out well for now. |

View Quote Yeah I think I should have done a better job of wording my question. I definitely think expressing the time of the net in UTC is the right approach. I have a UTC clock set in my phone so I can easily see how much time until the net, and it works as a simple reference for everyone in every time zone. What I was trying to ask was if the net time will change with daylight savings time (since UTC time is constant, depending on the time of year my local time is UTC -6 or -7). |

I think it will improve as we move towards fall and the static crashes from storms lessen. |

It also didn't help that we just has a decent solar storm and 20 was almost completely dead right at the time I tried calling the net on it. |

Edit: The end goal of an ARFCOM West net is to get it started and then have multiple net control stations even further west of me trade off calling it. |

I'm still at work, but should be home in time to call the ARFCOM West net. I'll be running around 300 watts tonight, but will add at least 1200 to that if any "frequency owners" show up.

Glad dinner was off-schedule tonight so I was able to check in on 40M. NCS was 59; couldn't copy the other stations that checked in.

Sorry I missed the net. Today is my wife's birthday, and she said it was the worst one she's ever had. Her brother's wife and kids were staying with her parents for some campout thing, and her parents totally forgot it was her birthday.
I'll try again next week. |
