Back in the day I would go with a Buddy of mine…out the Gate toward the Farallon Islands in a Wellcraft 28 foot center console with twin Merc outboards. It always amazed me how many Boston Whaler 16 footer’s we would come across even when there were big swells, often times rough enough water to bring the local fishing fleet in. Nice fish OP.

Your saltwater kings are lighter colored compared to the great lakes .
Do you have coho salmon there?
Ours are a deep maroon in the spring,  but lighten up come the fall run.

Anyways, nice catch!
