My GSP has chronically vomited for the last month. Pretty much 3 to 4 hours after every meal. I've had him at the vet, they did an emergency exploratory surgery because they thought he had an object in his intestines and that came back negative. His bloodwork is clean, Giardia Fecal is negative, biopsy of the inflamed portion of his intestine is negative for anything our of the normal just irritated. He's an inside dog and hes down about 8 pounds right now. There have been two weeks our of the 4 he has not vomited and that was the week after the surgery where he was on pain meds and a sedative and then last week when I had the vet give us some anti vomiting meds. I've reached out to two other vets for second opinions today but I haven't heard back. We went ahead and treated him for Giardia as the fecal can come back negative but they can still have it. The treatment shouldn't harm him as I've been told but he is still vomiting. Any thoughts from anyone? Edit: he seems to have plenty of energy, running around and hunting constantly. His food bowl is about a foot off the ground and he is on a single protein source food. |

I had the same problem with my 6 year old asshole GSP last summer...
She just kinda stopped eating, then started throwing up whenever she tried to eat, then (if I remember correctly) started vomiting when drinking water... As I previously said she's an asshole, so we assumed she ate some crab apples in the yard and had a blockage. X-rays showed an "artifact" believed to most likely be a blockage which required exploratory surgery. Turned out to be nothing, but since she was opened up, we elected to have her stomach tacked also, since the breed is predisposed to bloat, which would be BAD. Turns out it was just an IBS flare up........and the asshole is now running around like nothing happened Full disclosure Mrs. Booze is a Vet Tech (basically an RN for animals), I see this was posted almost two weeks ago, hopefully things have improved for you guys, please let us know... |

glad to hear everything is doing better... thought my GSP had a food allergy also, did the whole pain in the ass restricted diet and it made no difference whatsoever, just bad anxiety due to poor breeding...
ETA: we think she had a IBS flare-up the other day... didn't really eat for two days, no vomiting and kept pooping, but was fine after... but if you're GSP is like any of the ones I've had, if they ain't eating, there's a problem, hahaha |

My English pointer had a problem with gas. The dogs stomach got full of gas and he could not pass it.
Vet said if I had waited the stomach could have moved and he would have required surgery. Luckily after some anti vomit meds and some other things ( non surgical)the vet did we took him home. Boiled chicken and meds for a few days and he’s fine. |
