Hello,
I read that bears will head toward gun shots, because they have learned that hunters will leave gut piles and meat. Sometimes, they even attack hunters.

So, has anyone fired a shot to try to attract a bear?

When I lived in AK, I used to hunt Afognak, Shuyak, and Montague isle for black tail deer, it was a common joke that bears think a gunshot is a dinner bell.

I know one person who had to give up a deer to a brown bear on Afognak.

ETA. It was when he was packing the deer out about an hour after he shot it, so whether or not the bear came in because of the shot or just smelled the fresh deer being packed out is open to conjecture.
