| I am considering changing up my hunting rifles. I have a Tikka 6.5 CM that is outstanding for longer range open country. One of my 16" 5.56 ARs is wearing a 2-10 Credo and should work great for smaller game like coyote. I would like something small and short, nice to walk with, good getting in and out of vehicles, easy to carry in thicker woods to use on white tail and hogs. I would imagine range would be under 200 yards but maybe out to 300. I think a 12.5" 6.5 Grendel is the easy choice. But I am trying to keep an open mind. 6 ARC looks interesting but I imagine the 6.5mm would work better with a short barrel. 300 hamr is appealing because it uses a standard bolt but it looks a little over hyped. Let me know what you would do. |

12.5" 308 in a small frame like SFAR or POF. It's probably a project at this point because I don't think any of them sell a 12.5" pistol anymore. It's not a large frame gun. It is the dimensions of an AR15 other than the mag well. But this thing is 8.6lbs with an elcan, modlite (not pictured) and other furniture. That means the gun itself weighs 6.7lbs. | I’ve had a 20” 6.5 Grendel for years, so when I went short, I went to a 12.5” 6.5 Grendel. I really like both of them. But had I not already been invested in the 20” 6.5 Grendel, dies, etc, I probably would’ve looked close at the 6 ARC. For my purposes and abilities, there’s not that much difference in the two for me, IMO. |

Thanks everyone. I agree that the 12.5" Grendel is kind of a no brainer. Just wanted to see if i was over looking anything else. 6ARC also looks good but ithink i will go with the 6.5. It looks like the Monster barrels (Rexus) are pretty cheap. For a short range hunting rifle do you guys think they would be fine? What about other budget barrels like Faxon or BA? |

I have a 12.5” Grendel that I have killed quite a few deer with but I recently put a thermal on it for night hunting because I had been using my ar10 6.5 cm more for deer. I am now in the process of building a 12.5” 358 Winchester, obviously on an ar10 frame but I’m looking forward to playing with it. |
