I always thought it funny when I passed the exit for years. Now I am camping there this weekend.

You will find that the locals omit the "Lick" and simply call it Big Bone.  The "Lick" comes from the fact that there is a naturally occuring salt deposit there that is called a "salt lick" that has drawn wildlife to the area for a LONG time. The geology has a wide variety of fossilized remains of now extinct animals, hence the BIG BONE. |
