Hi All, I hope it’s ok to ask on here but I was wondering if anyone knew of another forum site that had a good binoculars classifieds section. I am in the market for some new glass but would much rather buy secound hand then new. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! |

Yeah, they have some good stuff. Be aware you need 50 posts there to use their EE. I picked up a nice set of vortex in excellent shape for 40% off what Cabela’s wanted. Craigslist. |

Thanks for the feedback!! Yeah the EE on this site is fairly limited for bino’s especially for higher end ones. I just had a look at Rockslide and it looks great but the 50 post minimum is a bummer. After some google searching I randomly came across https://www.birdforum.net and that by far seems like my best option. I know nothing about birding nor did I even have a clue that it was such a big deal to the point where there is an entire forum with ALOT of traffic so there seems to a very large classified section with high end bino’s up for sale on that forum. |

Pretty much every older person garage sale or estate sale. I think every older guy had at least a couple sets of binoc's. I'm down to 3-4 depending on how many I can find at any one time. Simpson Ltd. - Search: binoculars Definitely “used”, and likely in need of an overhaul, but these are wonderful binoculars. Hensoldt is owned by Zeiss. I have a pair that I bought 15-20 years ago, and had cleaned and collimated. They’re fully multi-coated, West German Cold War military surplus. They’re small enough to carry on an outing. Just expanding your horizons a little. They might be a little too “used” for your purposes, though ETA (11/26/2025): Original link broken; new link posted- see page 2 of search results, still 3 left. |

The guy seems to be looking for high end binoculars, presumably something like Swarovski, Maven, Leica, maybe Meopta. They don't really go on sale like the cheaper options, especially the highest end ones having features such as built in rangefinders. You aren't going to find them at a random yard sale. My experience with the equipment exchange here has been very poor. Nothing I put up here sells, not even some random lowball offers. Most of the things I've looked to buy have not been here either. I have only found one thing. For the most part the place is dead. I'm not sure what the problem is, but it's not great. A quick search shows two good binocular options here, although one is brand new. The used ones appear good, but are 12x. Rokslide is a forum I really grew to hate due to the crazy hierarchy and elitism, but at its core it is a backcountry equipment forum. The selling area there is very good for that sort of thing with sleeping bags, scopes, and of course binoculars. A quick search shows a ton of different options here. You have to keep an eye on it as it is first come first served, and the good deals sell fast. This forum is way more active than the equipment exchange here. Ebay is one of those places you have to be on the ball, but every once in a while you find good stuff. It can be very good for used optics. A quick search shows quite a few options in multiple brands. |

| I snagged a set of Steiner 7X50 illuminated Military/Marine binoculars on Goodwill.com for $50. I sent them into Steiner for whatever they could do to make them as close as possible to new...another $100 for a set of binoculars that should have cost around $1500. |

Would also agree the EE here is not as hot- buying or selling- as it used to be. |
