I was pissed. Live stream certainly helps and gives you instant gratification, but that's more of a recent thing. Not every DXpedition has the financial resources or internet connectivity to make live stream happen. I've worked DX and had to wait months to see if I was actually in their log and I wasn't really sure that I had until the QSL card came in the mail. I am absolutely certain of one thing though, the Bouvet DXpediton will be an absolute shit show. The Lids, Kids, Space Cadets, and the freaking Pirates will be out in full force.  |

And today on Natural Science Theatre, our intrepid explorers found an unassuming patch of barren ice covered rock in the middle of nowhere. What will they find? What will be the consequences? And what truths will they uncover here on Oak Island.... I mean Bouvet Island. All Right, who used the old script from Oak Island? Meanwhile, our intrepid explorers will dig through the ice to find the perfect ice for an Old Fashioned Cocktail. Eventually, they will dig into the crust of the earth to fin.... well, who knows, pirate treasure? Could be.. Alien artifacts? heck yes! or maybe... and this is purely a last resort... more rock. So, come with us as our intrepid....ive used Intrepid like 5 times... our Cautionary explorers, Dr Quest, Race Bannon, Hadji and that Plucky kid, Johnny Quest, along with their Dog, Bandit, as they explore a snowball in the middle of nowhere! |

They have an interesting method planned to battle DQRM. If they encounter it, they plan to work SSB and CW SIMPLEX within a window of 20-30 kHz up. They'll simply move up and down at random and call. Attached File |

I can copy them also, but the Europeans have the edge. I'm just happy to see them on the air. I am sure as time goes on they will get more stations on the air. |

When the connection fails, logs get Stuck and can suddenly send false data when connections are restored. Pirates: Pirating expeditions is a problem all face therefore the Work first Worry later method has become an accepted fact in chasing any expedition, particularly rare ones such as Bouvet. QRV verification: Please understand the team is doing their best to operate the few small stations while continuing to build the camps in extremely difficult condition of weather. They are doing this to provide some opportunities through digital and CW modes and will, as soon as possible begin SSB with bigger antennas and higher power. Communication to Pilots: Having not yet deployed any Starlink devices, focusing on getting the camps built, the passing of information relies on one Iridium device which by virtue of using satellites has been obstructed by the heavy cloud cover and constant rain. Note: We, the off-island piloting group are as frustrated by this as you are and cannot simply make up news to satisfy every question asked. The Most Current information follows: From the Island as of 12:00 UTC March 2 - "We have 16 people on the island now building the camps. Five tents are up, food, fuel, radios, Yagis and amplifiers are being assembled. Today, March 2 and tomorrow March 3 antennas are being erected. please be patient - weather is extremely challenging but the team is working well together to make sure that they can provide You all with solid signals around the globe. We hope to have 4 or 5 stations up, QRO, by sunset here. Negativity on social media and cluster comments do Nothing to help the DX community and we will continue to ignore those who only wish to complain. As conditions improve more information will flow. The team is presently building antennas for 20, 30, 40 and 160 meters in the remaining 4 +/- hours of daylight. Tomorrow more Yagis will go up and the KW amps will be utilized Remember, the logistical conditions here change in an instant, and the team is doing their best to push ahead for the DX community. The nasty comments will do nothing to change what is. . QRV will be posted when ready. |

I have not been tracking this effort since I'm not into rare DX'ing. But the helicopter op's video came up in one of my helicopter social media feeds and I followed it down (up?) the rabbit hole of learning about the op. $1.7 meeeellion dollars? Holy shit! That's a lot of money to spend playing radio!  I read that each one of the radio operators is paying something like $20K out of pocket. Damn, that would buy a LOT of ham gear. And a tropical vacation as well! |

| It's funny how Desecheo was #14 most wanted and Bouvet is #10, yet the DQRM is totally different for two DX entities ranked that close together. |

| Not an ATNO for me, but i just worked them on 30M FT8 after an hour of calling. I saw K9-Bob in the pile-up when I took one of my many breaks to move to a clear frequency. |

| Good deal, guys! I'm beginning to think they're just in a black hole in regards to my QTH. I've yet to copy them on SSB or CW, and they supposedly have amplifiers up to 1500W and at least a couple of yagi antennas. (20M for sure.) |
