Need a good 10 x 10 canopy for outdoor use. The last one I had was a 12 x 12, very complicated, that took 2 strong men to even get up and down. Got so pissed off I ended up tearing it wasn just throwing it away. Any FIRST HAND recommendations? Thanks, CMOS |

The Home Depot's ever built 10x10 canopy, for like 120 bucks, is by far the easiest I've ever used. My kids could do it when they were 8 years old up and down by themselves. Probably 6 or 7yrs out of it, at least a dozen times a year, and still going strong. |

| If there is a well-made canopy on the market, I haven't seen it. As far as I've seen, all the canopies on the market have plastic hinge pieces that fail under moderate loads. None are easy to set up. It seems unlikely if you did build a decent one you would have a marketable product as it would cost a fortune. |

For myself i treat them as disposable. Caravan and Ez-Up are the best built ones ive seen. And they can be pricey. Always always always make sure they're anchored. The wind will Taco them at the first opportunity. |

We used a Coleman for many years that was very solid but heavy and absolutely required two people to erect. We shifted to a Clam Quick-Set for our camping screenhouse / shade structure and could not be happier. Lighter and easy for one person to manage, up or down. Two cons are the 6'+ packed length and that it essentially has no replaceable parts but for an add-on roof panel. |

Got a ozark trail 10'x10' for $50 spring last year, used off & on till winter time. Top cover still in one piece. Few weeks back Oklahoma windy day I didn't colapse it down, it popped a side rivet. Repaired it by removing remainder of popped rivet, replace with a nyloc & button head bolt. |

I'm late to this thread. Sorry. Financee-recently-turned wife is a potter. We do a LOT of weekend arts and crafts fairs. A canopy is a critical part of our craft show equipment. We end up using the canopy even in weather where we would rather not be out , under a canopy. Its "work". We use EZ Up. Its simple. grab a corner, walk it out. Canopy goes up. Lift on a support leg until it clicks into place. Lift canopy to desired height using any one of about four hole-and-spring-button settings. Done. Take down: Pull the pin, walk it in. Done. Wind is the enemy of canopies. Secure legs are critical. We use two approaches: On grass, its a pair of 10" spike type tent pegs, driven thru the holes in the leg foot. I set them at angles rather than just straight into earth. On pavement, gravel or other hard surfaces, its a corner weight bag, that wraps the leg with velcro. Bags are filled with gravel and likely about 60 lbs each. We use one on each leg. EZ-Up makes zippered walls. These are great. Ugly weather, just zip walls on. We have actually used ours as a very capable tent. Attach walls. Its now a tent. Our unit has been VERY durable. One issue: Its somewhat heavy. The actual steel rather than lighter aluminum makes it durable but is heavy. We can find lighter units, but lighter is more fragile and less durable. Its a choice on your part. All, every single one, will gather rain and puddle on the roof in truly ugly weather. Its unfortunate, but its just characteristic of canopies. Anything that is easy to set up has some unsupported roof sections that pool. It is possible to design a roof that does not pool. Such roof requires additional "framing" and or poles that are now no longer easy to set up. You choose: Easy up and down. Or awesome weather proofing. These are usually mutually exclusive. |

which model was it? the 12x12 I just picked up 2 of these Everbilt 12x12 and my wife can set it up by herself, she bitched and complained the whole time but after it went up She was like well that was easier than I thought. |

Get the EZ-Up brand. They are more expensive for a reason. My first EZ-Up broke after 20 yrs. I made the mistake of buying a Coleman from Walmart. What a POS that was compared to the old EZ-Up. It was heavy as shit and felt cheap, which it was. Gave it a way to a neighbor when he asked to borrow it for a birthday party. Told him he could have it. Yeah I pawn it off to him and didn’t even feel bad. He did me a favor by taking it. I went out and bought another EZ-Up right away. The newer ones are even lighter and easier to set up compared to the old one I had. |

Euromax Standard or Euromax superior canopy. I have both. The standard is an older one with a metal frame. The superior is new with an aluminum frame. I use them for my "booth" at farmers markets and craft fairs. I make leather goods and I frequent markets every other weekend spring through fall. The Euromax canopies have something that the others probably don't have. Spare parts, with free and quick shipping. I bent a tent leg a couple years ago (my stupidity) on a Saturday. I'm in N.C and they shipped me a new leg assembly on Monday from California and I had a replacement Wednesday afternoon. Euromax is a bit heavy and is quickly set up solo. Is it totally waterproof no, none of them are. They will drip through the fabric if you don't have the roof tight. I have a second fabric roof that I use to "double it up" for a rainy event. That seems to do the trick. Other vendors will throw a 20 x 20 tarp on it and tie it down and that works great to keep you dry during a rainy event. Problem with this is it stresses the frame, that's why I went with the superior version so it would withstand the additional weight of the tarp. And definitely purchase the double sand bags for security. I also use the corkscrew type dog steaks for securing the canopy in a grassy area. |
