My favorite time of year is here, mainly because I love spending time in the mountains with my family. My son has grown up hunting with me, and I hope we can repeat our success from years past: Seasons Change

My kids are in their 20's and 30's. My dad turns 90 this year. Taking him hunting is like taking my kids hunting when they were little. Damn it's cold out here, sure glad it's not any colder. How many deer can I shoot? (one buck and five does dad, just stay quiet so we can see one) Damn it's cold out here, sure glad it's not any colder. (yeah dad it is, you want some hot coffee?) Juat set up the blind yesterday, it will be my daughter's last youth season-then next year she joins us adults. Attached File Last year's doe. We're taking a first timer out with us this year-my boss wants to take his son. |

My oldest is 4. He makes a lot of noise, but we still manage to see some every once in a while. He still has yet to watch me shoot one though. Attached File |

My daughter got a nice doe in the last hour of shooting time tonight, last day of youth season. Fitting, since it's the last year she's eligible for youth season. I told her I'd save the skull from this one-she got a huge doe her first season and we had the hide tanned. .350 Legend at 50 yards. In the neck, totally eliminated the heart and went out the left lung. Dropped her where she stood. @iowaredneck here's the picture. Attached File |

My son dropped one with a neck shot today during youth season. The only downside was it's warm so we had to field dress, skin and quarter it ASAP. Had it in a cooler on ice pretty quickly, but now I'm tired. Attached File |
My youngest got her first this year. She shot one last year and we never found it. This one she dropped with a perfect shot. Her rifle I bought on here from a fellow arfcommer. .243 Win in Muddy Girl pink.

Love it! My son shot his first turkey at 9. Then got interested in deer @ 14. He has shot a deer every year since. He was with me when I shot my deer last year which was awesome. This year he drove home from college for opening day. He brought his girlfriend, her first hunt. He had a buck down by 8 am. He gets it and loves eating his harvests. And he cooked it!

You guys are lucky! My 6 yr old daughter is so much of an animal lover that I'm pretty confident she'll never want to shoot one or watch dad shoot one. She loves fishing (well, the catching part of it anyway) so I have that at least! |

My 12 y/o had no patience for fishing (or hunting)when he was younger always said "the catching is a lot more fun then the waiting" but now he loves it he fishes after school with friends goes bowfishing with me and ice fishing He killed his 5th buck this past October |

My youngest went through that stage, then wanted to hunt, then realized he didn’t really like hunting, just being outdoors and enjoying being away from the city (which is fine). He doesn’t like fishing, though. My oldest has always been all in for both hunting and fishing. |
