No radio for me tonight.

|
|
Ill be there withe bells on!
maybe with splattering also. getting a ton of ALC testing now on 7120/1500 with Olivia/16/500. I never have this problem at all on wsjtx but fldigi makes my ALC go nuts ETA fixed. had to set fldigi's TX power to -30 I wish itd let me go lower as then my power out was 50w, so had to manually adj the radios power down. |
|
Hands up don't ban!
|
I'm shooting to be able to get on the air next week (fingers crossed).

The countdown warnings will be delayed a bit but the net will happen at 0000Z
ETA: first warning out at 2322Z. ETA2: 2330Z warning out |

Like most living things, you run them through a combine, it'll pretty much take care of it.

@Bophades
I'm thinking new TS - 590/sG, set the rig to 100 watts out and adjust the audio drive to 40-50 watts out. It should be very linear as you will be well below the ALC threshold. 73, Rob |

Small net, decent conditions but noticeably worse than the prior two weeks.
3 stations + NC tonight. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! |

Great to be back on the digital net, after over 10 years!
For tonight I only picked up NCS and the stations in MO & TX. I was only using 20w out though for tonight, but its very easy to get the full 100w in dig mode if Im not careful. My lamenting comment on only 50w was that my voice is apparently limited to that when in SSB mode, unless I want all of the ALC that is. Older rig had the same thing. But thats for another day... With digital though, do you all max out the RF gain and turn AGC on? When I use wsjtx i always turn off AGC and only put enough RF gain to get the green meter to deflect around 50-60max. Not sure how to properly do this with interactive digital modes and still be able to reliably use the smeter to give signal reports. (I thought for all digital modes you wanted AGC off and then to manually set RFGain, but I notice when I do that my Smeter sort of acts a bit odd). Also JUST CANNOT seem to use the ^r to get FLDIGI to release the key on my TX... wtf.... ETA: ok now ^r releases but also completely clears it out, I though had to use ^R for that one. regardles ^p seems to give me the behavior I want |

What rig are you using?
What does ^p do? All I've ever used is ^r. |

Whatever AGC on, no gain reduction is. On my 7300 that's center position on the control, yours is probably different.

@ Bophades
The limitation seen on voice modes is due to the metering system not being able to follow the PEP indications. Set your mic gain to just tickle the AGC reading when speaking normally. hth 73, Rob |

I should be present to NC tonight. We're a bit light on sunspots so I don't have a lot of hope
for propagation, probably going to be like last week where things weren't the best. |

I'll have to be MIA tonight. All my antennas are disconnected due to my roof being replaced. The feedlines were in harm's way. I should be back in operation next week.
|
|
|
Conditions weren't too bad, one station was pretty weak for me and another
looked like we ran coax between us. Five stations + NC tonight. Thanks for checking in! |

I bought a Digirig to replace my Signalink but it's been a pita to setup. I'm going to try to make the net but might just sandbag and work on dialing it in. Been so long I've forgotten a lot.

How come every time there is a shooting, they want to take away the guns from the people who didn't do it?
|
@CS223
First I'd heard of this, what radio are you interfacing? Is there a pre-made cable set available? Next, what operating system? Hope you get it working, keep us posted. 73, Rob |

Been there, done that, tee shirt etc. etc. I just hooked up my KX3, been running it the last few weeks. Took me a min. to remember the audio control program, I have to set up up the audio path each time so I'm not sending audio to the computer speakers. ;) I bumped my mouse into the SignaLink and shut it off just now. I'm running Mint Linux btw but I remember Windows changing USB ports if it gets interrupted, upgraded etc. I'd start there from the USB port to your new device. It's intriguing @ 1/2 the price of the SignaLink USB for the interface and cable set. I'm tuned up on 7.120 USB/ data mode iif you have time to test anything. 73, Rob |

Conditions were pretty decent for tonight's net, and better than last week.
We had four stations + NC tonight. Thanks for checking in! |

Conditions were pretty nice tonight. Everyone was 100% copy as usual, SNRs were solidly positive for everyone.
We had 5 stations + NC. Merry Christmas! Hopefully some of you will be testing new toys on next week's net. |

quiet resulting in OK SNRs. Two stations + NC tonight. |

I got a signal link USB with the chip for the Yaesu.
Got the chip installed in the signal link, Windows got the drivers installed and I followed the provided instructions to the best of my abilities. Connected to a Yaesu 891 with the appropriate cables. Installed FLDigi. I can see waterfall and I am decoding gibberish, as i have to idea what digital signal i tuned to We will see how this goes Weds |

Narrow skinny signals and lots of them usually. https://www.sigidwiki.com/wiki/Phase_Shift_Keying_ This page shows what it looks/sounds like. |

Havent been able to find any PSK to tune to. The CW decoder is pretty cool. I feel like i have it setup close enough to try Weds maybe. I am confused as to why FLDigi seems to have the Yaesu 891 in their list of radios, but i need the SignalLink interface, so it doesnt seem like it will follow the frequ changes and such like a radio with a built in sound card. So, i am wondering why the 891 is in the list and if i am missing something. A lot of info to try to unpack Eta: Spoke too soon! Decoding PSK on 7.073 |

@Shootindave
Hi Dave, pardon me if I didn't get something. The Signalink USB is only an audio interface, so you won't see any control functions. To setup up the TX, set the power out on the radio to 100 watts then apply audio to the radio at such a level to just NOT activate the ALC. IOW set the level to just tickle the ALC and back the level off. This keep the transmitter "linear" The radio will need to be run at 50 watts or a bit less because of the high duty cycle. hth 73, Rob |

I'm sure between now and Wednesday you can find someone here to have a sked with to make its working.

Nice net, as was observed on the net signals were weaker, but noise was low and SNRs were good,
I had everyone 100%. We had give stations + NC tonight, including a new station. Thanks for checking in and hope to see everyone next week. |
