Dumb question - but I noticed when I opened my new can, it had a strong smell of whtaever was used to coat the inside. I can still put gas directly into the can, or should I air it out or whatnot? Thanks.

I'd laugh, but when I was a kid I used to take about 1/2 gallon of gas to the house whet I mowed the lawn, about 2 miles away. In mason jars. In a cloth grocery tote. Wow just wow
I just realized that the buckets are sitting in the second seat area of a SUV...well I guess he kept the load balanced in the vehicle. The article said that this guy put 4 gallons in each bucket. That would leave a gallon of air fuel mix in each bucket. 30 gallons of fuel air mix could ruin your day followed by Station owner was charged much the same way vendors are charged for selling alcohol or tobacco to minors. |

Dufus only pumped 4 gallons in each bucket. Dufus would have been hauling 120 gallons of gas and 30 gallons of fuel-air-explosive. I am a nancyboi about hauling FAE |

If storing these brand new cans without liquid in them, should the lids be left open or closed tight with latch? Should the rubber gasket be treated with a preservative or lube of any kind to prevent cracking/drying out? |

About a year ago I bought 4 of the D.O. cans and they are great. No issues to report, awesome quality, good and timely shipping.
A month ago I ordered 4 cans from Atlantic British. They are almost identical to the D.O. cans without the "water use only" nonsense stamped on the side, there wasn't even that "water use" sticker on them, it was on the outside of the box! To me, this does give them an edge since I live in a Nanny state and don't want hassles with filling or transporting. What I can tell you about Atlantic British is that the customer service is awesome (not saying that D.O. isn't, just did't need it). One of the four cans was damaged from shipping. I called the contact person in the email I recieved after ordering. 24 hours later I had a replacement can and a shipping label for UPS to return the damaged one. Last week I got a 10% off coupon in the mail on any order, no minimum. Today I got a follow up email from the cust service rep that I dealt with just to check in about my order and to make sure that I was happy. To me that is excellent small business customer service. I'm not affiliated with this compnay in any way and just wanted to pass along my experience. |

Do the replacement gaskets for the DO cans work interchangeably with the other common cans like the AB, etc.? I'm just wondering if they are brand specific or I can get them from one of many suppliers.

Has anyone ever ordered from here and know if these are any good? Thinking about getting some from here if tax and shipping comes to less than Atlantic British, but only if someone can verify they are good |

Look great and only have one left to fill. Don't waste $ on buying their surplus spout. Go with something else. It is nice but I think it is too big to fit into the small hole for the gas fill in my vehicles. Would work fine in my 72 K5, though. I will probably buy from them again. They are based in Fayeteville AR, if you are close. |

Sorry if this was asked before.
I just received my cans from British Atlantic. They have that red coating on the inside. What is that coating and will it stand up over time? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks |

Thanks The AB fuel cans are coated on the inside to fight rust...the red coating you see The AB fuel cans are coated on the outside to fight rust...the green, red, or yellow paint you see. The above answer is a summary of the reviews that I have read posted in this thread, other threads in this forum, and from researching the history of the jerry can. |

Thank's for information on where to get the Donkey Dick Spout's...I lost mine during the hurricaine/Nor'Easter in NJ.. last month and what a mess trying to use the gerry can to keep the generator running, I siphoned it out....Donkey Dick's LOL

How about the high capacity fuel tank's that farmer's have? I'm not sure that they use them anymore. I've seen some big fuel tank's with the regular gas pump hose and nozzle still in tact..Now they would be excellent for storing alot of fuel.
