New to RVing but planning a trip to Kentucky this August.

I am looking for ideals for meal planning.

I don't want the wife to have to cook every day of the trip.

Our trailer has a 10 cu ft refrigerator with a pull out freezer, sufficient room bring frozen item as well as fresh.

I expect to do some shopping at our destination.

What are some easy meals while camping and any other helpful tip.

Freeze things like a stew or a meat tomato sauce, then all you have to do is use the mircrowave or boil water for dinner.

We do MRE picnics for several meals.

PBJ is a simple lunch item.

Does the trailer have a grill?  Bring burgers/dogs/brats.

+1 on pre-cooking and freezing some of the major components. We do this with chili meat and spices.

Two things we always make in advance but don't freeze are chicken salad and banana bread and/or some cookies.  Last few trips I've also marinated a bunch of sirloin tips in a ziplock to be cooked over the fire on skewers.  All of which last a surprising amount of time in a cooler.

+1 on the tomato sauce thing.  pasta with premade sauce/meatballs/sausage/etc is easy if you can boil water.  elbows or penne are nice b/c they pack easier without breaking.

we used to like to do pulled pork sandwiches.  Just need to heat the pork (nuke, stove, fire, pan, etc.)  then buns and coleslaw or other sides (pre made or grocery store).

sandwiches are a staple, fancy it up with some italian meats/cheeses and rolls for a sub.

ramen or freeze dried meals if you have them or are into that.

Burgers/dogs are always an option if you have fire.  hotdogs if you can only boil water.

Maybe find a place to eat out half way through the trip to break it up.

Thanks for all the replies the wife likes to make from scratch, but I need to convince her to use more premade items like pasta sauce and Manwich

We can cook some Hamburger and freeze it, then we only need to thaw it to add to make dishes like Sloppy Joe, Chilli Mac or spaghetti.

I was thinking to bring items like chunky soups and chicken strips and use the stove or microwave to reheat.

Not bringing a grill on this trip but I do have a Coleman stove to cook outside as well as the burners in the trailer.

I was thinking about getting some of those cast iron sandwich makers, do they work well?

Google Ortega casserole. Freezes easy, reheats easy and a good breakfast

For some easy cooking, a hot ham slightly fried deli ham, and cheese sandwiches and Mac n cheese

Get pulled chicken from your deli, add peas and the packets of nuked rice and some can of cream of chicken soup

She can still make the meals from scratch and you can reheat as needed.

If you do not have one, get a small propane griddle.  Between that (set up on a table outside) and the microwave, we have not done anything but cook pasta on the stove.
The griddle is quick clean up and reduced the dishes to wash.
We take chicken breast sliced into strips, frozen burger patties, pan pork sausage, eggs, pancake mix in those plastic jugs, and also sliced ham/roast beef.  If pasta is on the menu, precook that, so you only need to dunk  it in some boiling water for a minute.  Pre chop onions and other other vegies.  Hot meals make trips fun, but hot meals in 10 minutes are less are even better.

Hot sandwiches off the grill, breakfast tacos, burgers, salads with grilled chicken, omelets, pasta with grilled chicken.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

I like to make breakfast burritos in the morning.  Scramble up some eggs, and throw some pre-made Jimmy Dean sausage and shredded cheese on a tortilla.

We've pre-made grilled chicken, tuna salad, chicken salad, meatballs, etc.  Lunchmeat sandwiches or wraps are easy.

Digiorno frozen pizzas are decent for a dinner or I'll grill something like burgers or brats.  We'll usually do dinner out one night if we are close to civilization

If you are cooking/heating things up outside it also helps to not fill the camper with all the smells from cooking/burning food in the camper.

When we camped, we would pre cook bulk breakfast sausage and add flour to it to make gravy.  We pre-baked biscuits too and just had to heat them up for breakfasts.

We made a lot of foods we wanted to take and freeze them so we would have to just reheat it.

I do have a propane Coleman stove and a Lodge gridle.

This could work out to help reduce the amount of pans needed to cook meals.

Thanks for the ideals everyone.

I make a big batch of burrito filler ( chicken, corn, rotel, refried beans, black beans, onions and peppers and enchiladas sauce.

Pack into snack size ziplock bags and freeze usually get around 16-18 .

Microwave for 2 minutes, empty bag onto 10” tortilla, add cheese and sour cream and fold up. Top with additional enchiladas sauce.
