Sealed up all the top plate penetrations.

And finally had a sunny, dry day to get some roofing on.

I’ve been meaning to let you know that besides a bunch of little things I have to buy a bunch more studs. Each window took 10 studs total and the door took 5.

ETA. And because my roof is only 20’ long I used 12 roofing panels instead of 14. And because I went 6/12 instead of 12/12 I could have gotten away with 8’ panels instead of 10’.

It’s been raining again. Annoying. Got 3/4 of the Tyvek up and doing windows today. Hoping to do the siding this weekend then I can focus on finishing the inside.

The Tyvek at the big box stores are all branded. Not to be confused with the store brand product which is half the price and trash. Always spring for the Tyvek.

If it stays dry this weekend we’re going to try to knock out the siding then I can spend the next couple weeks inside. Hope to move in by the end of October

Got excited and finally got to install the first radio thing on the shack. This will be the coax entrance for station #2.

Is that the DXE utility box? I think mine is the same one.

On the inside, you have that right angle grey piece. I assume your coax is able to make such a sharp bend. Is there coax that can handle legal limit that is so flexible?

This is a concern as most RG8/LMR400 sized coax cannot bend to that small of a radius without damaging the dielectric.

It is the DXE enclosure, I have another one as well. According to the spec sheet, Times Microwave LMR 400 has a minimum bend radius of 1 inch. The 1.5" LB's on the inside allow for at least that.

That's cool.

I am using ABR 2213A and I don't think it would bend so sharply, but much to my surprise the data sheet on ABR's site doesn't list a radius spec. Mine just comes out of the wall and I allow it to have fairly gentle curves.

Picked up a single sheet of 3/4” sanded Douglas Fir to see how it’d work for the walls. Good enough. Ordered 10 more sheets.

I like the diesel heaters because they run on 12v. I need to get mine out and see if it is noisy.

I’ve actually decided to T&G the front wall with the door purely for looks and ease. Too much T&G is… too much. The rest of the walls are mostly going to have furniture, posters, monitors and radios, so I just need a solid mounting surface.

Getting the Membrain on the walls today. Should be ready to put up plywood tomorrow.

I agree that would probably look better, but I’m in a rush and I hate painting

Got my one sheet mounted. I’ll pick up the rest in the morning.
