Any owners, past or present?
Been after one for a while and finally got a decent deal. Definitely impressed by the easy integration with flrig, wsjtx and similar programs. My two main gripes: No FM (puzzling on a rig w/ 6M coverage and whose receiver also covers the entire VHF-Lo allocation) and no RX Ant In-Out like most other Icoms I own. The workaround is to use an MFJ or DXE T/R relay/RX Ant relay and I plan to measure the amount of RF at the receiver antenna port when the hardware is connected. Right now the secondary receiver is an R-75 on a different antenna. The 7200 mutes this receiver on TX. The 7200's receiver isn't on par with some of the high end stuff I own but it's not bad, either. Perfectly usable in the secondary station position where it'll do a lot of digital mode work. |

I have two. Two radios, two tuners, and two power supplies make for two independent setups for less than $3k, less than the price of an expensive higher end radio and i don't lose everything if one fails.
Pros: dual VFO's. Noise cancelling is good once you get used to it. You can pick out stations a Kc apart. Use the noise blanker, noise reduction, and twin PBT together. 100% duty cycle for digital modes. Usb port makes digital easy. Used to have both as a base when I was in MARS but now one is set up for portable in a radio box built along the lines of a WW2 field desk. |

I've got one, and I passed on another in a case with a tuner at the hamfest...
The only part I'm not pleased with is needing to go in and move some micro resistors to unlock 60m. well, that and I'm pretty sure it doesn't have a band button for 60m either. |

I loved mine and still have it and a couple spares. I ran the digital net on it for years.
The main issues with the 7200 was ... the 7300 is so much better. Once I got the 7300 I packed the 7200 away for portable use. I really like the 7200 for how simple and straightforward the user interface is (as long as you're doing basic radio stuff and don't need to change settings all the time.) |

One frequency from each of the SWBC bands from 11M to 120M. CHU is mixed in there as well. Everything else becomes a scratch pad. I usually monitor single frequencies with this radio because a lot of band changing via the Scan function or a PC program makes for a lot of relay clacking on the Filter Board. None of the FT8 or PSK frequencies are memorized - I let the PC do the work there. |

It's bizarre to me that they haven't caught on and built a PRC-150 / CODAN 2110 type of all in one true manpack with integrated tuner, huge bottom lithium pack, with front panel antenna connections and weatherproofing.

The only reason I would own a 7200 today for that they're selling for is the somewhat rugged and water resistant construction. A 991A built like a 7200 would be fantastic.

Armoloq now makes a frame for the 7200. It's a nice protective cage, but he downside is it

I need to get a set of handles for mine. Went with Portable Zero for my fielded IC-703+/706MkIIG and will probably do same with this one.
Currently using the rig for remote operation - the PC I'm replying with interfaces to it, and wfview or flrig handles the control duties. Found out the tablet I use to access this system doesn't support Bluetooth mic audio for anything besides phone calls but there's one inbound which does. |

Bought one for my eldest daughter when she passed her General Exam at 15. A local ham sold it to me (for her Christmast) at a deal. She was stoked, then....I've been using it at #1 station for about a year or so. It's pretty dang swell, heavy as nuts but I'm not planning on taking it outside....and I'm not going to spray paint it OD Green either.

A local ham offered me an Icom IC-7200 and an Astron 30 amp power supply for $550.00.
Does that seem like a decent deal? I was gifted a Pelican case large enough to fit the IC-7200 and though it might try it as my alternate POTO radio. |

I would MUCH rather have a 7300, but the price for the 7200 and power supply seems decent. You could probably easily get your money back if you didn't like it, as the 7200 has kind of a "cult following". And you are not likely to get even a beat up 7300 and power supply for anywhere near that amount. If someone offered me that deal, I might very well take it with the idea of resale and making a few bucks. I have no use for it, as I have two 7300's and a 7610 in the shack and an FT-891 in the truck for mobile/portable. |

A ham from the my local DX club has to sell his house due to poor health and is being forced into a nursing home.
I was just trying to help him out with some cash. There is no box, manual, or accessories, but like you I thought I would buy it and flip it if I didn't like it. I need to find a set of carry handles for it, but they are unobtanium.  |

 Attached FileI picked up a used Icom IC-7200 this afternoon and cleaned it up as it had been sitting unsued for quite sometime. It was fithly with dust, but I cleaned well and it works perfectly. I made a bunch of FT8 and SSB contacts and best of all was able to figure it all out without a manual. I think this will be my picnic bench POTA rig. I also picked up an Astron 35 linear power supply with it and will clean it up and check it out tomorrow when I have time. Life is good.

My used IC-7200 needs a replacement microphone. The original HM-36 is sounds like crap, so I think I will replace it with the HM-219 hand microphone that comes with the IC-7300.
I also need to find a set of the original carry handles or an after market side rail to protect the radio. Any help in finding a source of either one would be appreciated. |

My cheap qrp rig had bad signal reports saying I sounded muffled. Pulled the mic apart and the hole for the element was nowhere close, so the sound was just bouncing around inside the mic and getting to the element eventually. I drilled a small hole close to center over the element, and insulated the element with foam, and it gets better reports now. I have another mic that I replaced the element, drilled the hole, and insulated. It works better too.  Anyone with a baofeng shoulder mic should do this mod, makes a big difference in that crappy mic. |

For anyone who uses wfview for control of their Icoms (and a few others):
Currently working with the developers to create an IC-7200 rig profile (which Phil has 90% done and working) and to debug a client-server crash when connecting remotely. This seems to affect the latest build (1.94). Wanted to get full 7200 functionality (buttons for NB/NR, ANF and others) so threw my hat in the ring to help out where needed. The client end of things is a Dell Venue 11 Pro (8GB RAM; 256GB SSD) running Linux Mint 21.3. The RC-28 remote is supported. Audio is via a KH-23 headset. Also have flrig, fldigi and wsjtx installed on the tablet. Need to get a workable Bluetooth mouse to go with the docking keyboard/secondary battery and this thing's going to make for a really nice POTA setup when run with the 7200. |

The amp control board I am working on and my 100w LDMOS use a mix of all different size SMD components and I played hell soldering them in the beginning. Have gone to hand soldering them using tweezers and a magnifier lamp. Many times if you are removing them and not reinstalling you can crush them with a small pair of needled nose pliers and just brush the pads over with a clean tinned soldering iron. Make quick work of the diodes or the 0 ohm resistors they like to use. |

I used solder flux on the board and then applied a bit of solder to the diode and it came right off. I then cleaned up the residue and wiped the area with alcohol to clean the circuit board and all was well.
It actually took longer to put all the screws back in the radio that performing the MARS modification. |

Ive got one, while i love it, it is severely lacking when compared to my TS-590, or even my FT-857. there will be times where i'll have the 7200 on the same freq as my 590, the 72000 wont hear a damned thing while the 590 sounds like they are in the same room
