Been wader fishing a few time for prespawn/spawning walleyes. Bite wasn't great on those trips out. Up and down weather really didnt' help. In the process of re-wiring my boat right now; have about 1-2 hours left and it's ready to go. A few shots I took while mocking up the new stereo & power port. Attached File Attached File |
I have been extending my front casting deck , added a rear casting deck, and new seats. Also completely rewired mine. Guess I added the steering console last fall. It was set up as a tiller when I bought it last fall. Now I am down to cutting the hatches, and laying carpet.

I no longer own a boat (only a simple kayak), but at least earlier today, I was out on the "slightly repaired" floating fishing dock at a public park here in the suburbs of Richmond, VA (Chesterfield Co. - Robious Landing Park). Look close and you'll see a vintage early 70's Daiwa 212 light action rod and the timeless classic, equally vintage, Daiwa 7250rla light action spinning reel... Zoom in (if you can) and you'll see my assembled crankbait floating right up near the fishing dock while I quickly stepped back to take this photo. The James River here in Virginia (at this location anyways) is navigable and ranges from 4-5 feet deep off the shoreline, fishing piers, out to about 8 ft, maybe 10 feet out in the middle, just before you reach the Bosher Dam (downstream). People run powerboats, wake boats, etc... take their kids tubing, etc... while you might be in a small runabout or canoe or kayak, trying to go fishing.

Took the boat out Thursday to Hartwell. Was cruising a bank and saw a few fish moving down the bank. Threw in a wacky rigged senko and this LMB took it Later, was throwing a blue back herring pattern spinner bait near a laydown and got a chain pickerel to bite. First CP I've ever caught. I've caught northern pike while living in SD so thought it was a pike at first. He was pissed that I caught him! Tight lines!

Was able to make it out the other night, hit a couple local ponds, had a pretty good evening on the LM, nothing worth bragging about, steady pick on fish in the 13-14” range. |

Ive been able to go a good bit, but I am doing terrible this year. I normally pick up at least a 6lb+ every year. This year not so much. Fishing has been funky, timing is off for all of our spawns including the shad spawn. Something very interesting is our club results. We have a 3 fish limit. This year we have not had a double digit bag for 3 fish at any tournament. I went back and looked, the 3 years prior we have had 2 tournaments that have had double digit bags weighed in by this time. So it makes me feel better that its not just me

I didn't see this thread in the spring... I did get a boat last fall and got out several times this spring and summer (not enough of course but what are you going to do). I've got a camping trip this week with a camping spot with a dock
