Ray from Icom said less than a year to the states. He did say some units from Japan were coming next month for select user testing. I am hearing a lot of comparison to the old reliable 706 and this being the much improved 2026 version. Direct Sampling on HF VHF and UHF. It will not do dual receive on HF. Just HF/50 HF/VHF HF/UHF 50/VHF 50/UHF VHF/UHF. Gigaparts is already listing them and there are two videos posted there although they are in Japanese I just mute them and turn on auto translate closed captioning. I do like the fact the mic can be plugged into the control head or the main body. There is an RJ45 jacked cable between the head and main body. One interesting thing I saw on the unveiling was the link LEDS were lit and flashing on the main body that had the cable connected to the control head. There is not ethernet mentioned in any info so I don't believe it is true ethernet but it must be some digital form between the controller and the body to make the LED on the jack to light up. I will give this radio a few months after release to allow the price to stabilize and see what the reviews are like. It may be my new truck radio. |

The downside is that it uses a DB15 cable to connect the main unit and the remote head. It really depends on the actual price for both radios. If they are close in price then it's a no brainer to go with the Icom. But if there is say $500 - $1000 price difference then those on limited budgets will definitely go with the XIegu. I don't see the IC-7110 being less than $1500 considering what the ID-5200 costs. And if Xiegu prices the G7250 too close to the IC-7300 MkII or FTDX10 then that will hurt sales. |

Shack was what I was thinking as I could replace and update from my aging IC-746Pro. I would gain a lot of feature plus easier to interface to my PW-1 Amp and the PC at the same time. Plus a built in audio interface. This is the first rig in a long time that has perked my interest. It checks almost all the boxes I want for the type of operating I want to do. One big unchecked box is the 3KHz transmit bandwidth. GRRRRR give me 6KHz PLEASE. Check out N6MUD youtube videos. |

| Mine does, too. And I've discovered that it's the source of horrific RFI every 16kHz across the entire 20 meter band that goes away when I unplug the video cable but not when I stack chokes all over said cable... Not sure what to do except work around the QRM the best I can, because the remote dashboard display is too important a safety feature to forego. Eyes on the road! |
