I have MSR pocket rocket stove, so I have the fuel on hand. Wanted a small lantern with decent output and picked this one up the other day.

seems well built.

Primus, there's a name I haven't heard in a while, my first backpacking stove was a Primus 8R.

How long would something like this run on a can? I have an emergency stove in the truck that takes these containers but it seems like a little solar/led lantern would be easier.

Ive seen these and wondered if the mantles need to be replaced every time after you pack it up and get it out.

An eight ounce can will run my EasyLight for ~10 hours, IME.

They do not, no. I've had the same mantle in mine for ~30 days of camping. Mostly car camping, granted, but with an 8 year old that likes to play with things when I'm not looking. The mantles aren't overly fragile.

I would agree in an emergency type situation. This is for camping and or a bit of light on the back patio when it is too warm for a fire in the solo stove.

Those are great, but they put out a lot less light.

Ha. Wondering if that would work last night waiting for it to cool down after using it for a bit.
