Congrats on all the nice deer guys.

Had this posted in the MOHTF and LaRue forum but thought I'd share here as well.  Took him on opening day, last Saturday, in the evening.  Should have been a 9 pointer but obviously the brow tine is broken off on one side.

While sitting in my buddies stand last weekend, I was taking pics of the different deer as they came into view.

Here is a small buck-

I shot this small 7-point buck on the second day of gun season. Dont know what to make of that extra horn growing out of the left side of its head?

Heard someone shoot not far from where i was sitting. Stood up and looked in the direction of the shot and a few minutes later this little guy came charging out of a ticket running broadside at about 35-yards. Hit him on the run with the benelli and dropped him right there. When i got to him i discovered that the shot i heard from the other hunter had wounded in low in the foreleg.

The other hunter walked over. He mentioned he had shot at the same deer and believed he had missed it completely. I pointed out he had actually hit it in the leg. There was no arguement about whose deer it was. Thing would have run for miles on three legs and had a miserable winter if it survived. Such is public land deer hunting.

DNR regs state you have to wear "hunters orange" during firearm deer season. Considering we hunt public land less than 15 miles from the state capital it would be suicide not to. Its a challange just to find a place to sit where you cant see another hunter.

Hunted up in the Sandhills region of Nebraska on a family friends 6700 acre ranch. Took this doe in the first couple hours of hunting, she ran into a pond after being shot and I had to wade into waist deep water to get it out(it was about 25 outside).

Not my best shooting.  Misjudged the distance and the deer moved as I shot so I spined her.  Luckily was able to get a clean 2nd shot of quickly and she expired almost instantly.  Just took her a few hours ago.

2nd Deer with the Bow. (Bowtech Pro 40)  #185 dressed, and on the hook. WV buck...and after 10 years of mgmt on the property...the bucks are starting to produce some decent racks. I had a good look at the 10 on the camera pic too...but he turned off to follow a doe at 50 yards from me...and never saw him again. Maybe next year...if he makes it through rifle season.

Compound 70# draw weight.  The first shot broke the skin hit some rib bone and the spine.  The second shot hit the log behind the deer so it didn't pass through.  That is the first time I haven't had a pass through shot, but a lot of bone will stop pretty much any arrow.  The shot in the vitals actually penetrated so far into that log that I had to unscrew the arrow to keep the shaft.

One deer with a bow last night and this do this morning with a shotgun slug.  Remington 3" accutip and dead instantly.  Had to use the front end loader to get her out of the brush and back to the truck or I would still be dragging her out.  Shot at about 6:45am CST.

How did you get one with a shotgun this morning in Ohio?
I hunt in IL.  Own land here and have nowhere to hunt in OH.  Been in IL since last friday.

There were 20 to 30 deer in the field, I was proned out on top of a small rise and started shooting left to right.  Dropped a doe, dropped another doe, doe number 1 tried to get up I swung back and fired to fast and sent a round just over the top, steadied myself and fired a again, put her down for the count, swung left and picked up doe #3 one round put her in the dirt as she and another were running towards me at a diagno, I felt the bolt lock back on that shot, so I Dumped the AR and transitioned to my 1911.  I gave a loud bleat and doe#4 slammed on the brakes at about 50 yards.  I put one round of Hornady 230 grn HP behind her shoulder and she folded up, tried to get up and then gave in.

Opening morning in Ok. can kill two does in my area. At 8:30 saw doe at about 60 yrds, shot an all hell broke loose, does running everywhere. The one I shot ran around in about 30 yd circle an fell dead. Looked up, another doe standing about 75 yrds shot, doe ran about 40 yrds behind brush. So I knew I had one down an maybe another. Walked over towards the second doe an there she lay. Have hunted that spot for a few years an never saw a deer, now in a few seconds two nice does on the ground.

Gun, Stag Ar15 M4 5.56 with bushnell 1.5-4 ill.dot.
Ammo, Fusion 62 gr

Also heart an lungs were tore up real good, overall real satisfied with the outcome.

Me and a friend shot these two within about 10 yards of each other during the muzzleloader hunt. Not trophies, but are still damn tasty. I used a Lyman Deerstalker .54 with a 295gr Powerbelt and it flattened the deer. My friend used a Hornady 250 gr xtp from a Remington m700 and his deer ran about 25 yards or so.

Walked her out to about 150 yards from my stand.  I hit a tad higher than I wanted and ended up nicking the backstraps.  I did manage to get both of the lungs though.

I pulled the trigger and lost my sight picture during recoil.  I looked up immediately to see where she ran to. I didn't see anything.  I was thinking, damn, this thing just went Houdini on me.  So, I sat up in the stand for about 10-15 minutes and then climbed down.  I went out looking for her. I went to where she was when I pulled the trigger and couldn't find her. I started a grid pattern and there she was.  One shot and she was DRT.  Man, she was tiny but hey, if it's brown, it's down and she'll be tender too.  I'll be a little more discriminate from now on as well.

I'm glad I got her, I got made on my way in at 0530. One started snorting at me and I didn't think I would see anything all day. Saw her and another one that was running like hell at the same distance a few hours earlier.  I also got a nice spike to show up when I busted out the rattle bag.

Anyway, on with the pictures. I posted earlier that I took her with my Mosin Nagant.  It didn't do as much damage this time.  I could get my index and middle finger in there.

Got mine on Monday but have been working the honey-do list since then.  Here's the little guy.  225 yrds with 6.8 SPC 95 gr Barnes TTSX with 29.5 grns of R10X.  Bullet stuck under the skin on the opposite side and mushroomed as expected. It weighed 94.4 grns after cleaning up the bullet. Dropped him in his tracks.

Alot!!!  Speedgoat and deer shoulder mounts, the deer will be on a pedestal, and a tanned bear hide.....BUT, I do euro mounts with the beetles, and I swap work with my taxidermist, so he'll end up owing me in the end, with all the work he's giving me!!!!!

Dad and I sat together Saturday morning and saw 6 bucks and a bunch of does/fawns. Three bucks were basket-racked 7- or 8- points.

More of the same that afternoon until right before dark.

This one walked out, I saw his mass and width, and pointed him out to dad. One shot and Dad had his second-best deer ever - and the best one ever killed on his farm:

Nine points, almost 7" bases, 18-1/4" wide, 167 pounds dressed.
