Im looking at a penn spinfisher VI rod reel combo. Reel is I believe a 8500. Thinking 65lb test with long steel liter.
Anyone own one of these or have any feed back.
Will be used both on the beach and on a boat.
My price range is around $300

I don't know if I'd put a spinning reel on a dedicated shark rod. Probably a 2 speed conventional, you'll need the low gear to horse them around and drag on a conventional tends to be stronger. I know spinning reels have come a long way but if i had a choice I'd go conventional.

I actually went with a 12ft heavy ugly stick with a canyon 10,000 reel. 100lb test.
