I wanna try this. I didn't know about this thread, but I was test firing my 22LR AR build yesterday. I got bored and started to shoot the corners of the grid squares.

It's not the most expensive but it still costs bucks. Amen!, on the difficulty. Even with a bipod, conditions are very important. I scrounged up a piece of string from a sand bag to as an improvised wind flag. The wind was fish-tailing from 6:00 to 3:00 and the wind speed was changing from 0 to 5 mph. |

Well I finally got around to giving this a go but had about everything against me. It was my first time out with my cz455, grabbed the glass off an ar that gave me a chin weld with about 2” over bore. I plan to get a viper pst 16x or a swfa eventually along with a timney trigger. This was measured out at 25 yards.

Plus opening up the barrel channel so it free floats...little changes. I'll try it again in a week or so, once all the changes are made to see any improvements. Interestingly, I tried two suppressors on the rifle; Gemtech Outback IID and my SilCo Sparrow. The rifle shoots much tighter groups with the Gemtech. I think it's because the Sparrow won't shoulder, the threads on the barrel are too long. I'm going to try it again later with the SilCo barrel spacer to take up the gap. |

Haven't done this in a while but finally managed to get out today.
I bought this CZ 455 VPT back in October of 2012 and today was the first time that I felt like it lived up to its potential. When new it shot ok but I really hoped for better. Back in November of 2015 I had a gunsmith bed the stock, install a Rifle Basix trigger and also purchased a Lija barrel. I shot it some after that but was having some issues with the trigger and the bolt coming all the way out sometimes when I worked the bolt. Just wasn't happy with it and it just sat in the back of the safe. Finally a few months ago I talked to the folks at Rifle Basix and they said my trigger was an older version and to send it back. I did and they sent me a new one no charge. Fixed all my trigger problems and the bolt coming out issue. Also finally got the barrel threaded for my suppressor. So took it to the range today for the first time in a couple years I believe and started off with some Federal Auto Match. Seemed to be shooting ok so I decided to use it to warm up on my first "Tack Driving" sheet. Sucked so bad I almost packed up and went home. Attached File But I broke out some Wolf Match Extra and had a go with it. Much better. Just looked at it again and that number 9 is iffy, probably call it a 19 total. Attached File Did another and was even better Attached File Then tried some SK Standard Plus and some RWS Target Rifle. Both did pretty good. Attached File Attached File I was really happy with how it was shooting. Just need to make the time to take it out more. |

That's some solid shooting out of the new Ruger.

I’ve been shooting these targets a good bit and I think it has improved my shooting. You really have to concentrate and try to be perfect every time you pull the trigger. Going from a bolt gun to a semi auto I have had to force myself to slow down between shots. Shooting the dots has helped with that. |

Excellent shooting.
My scope won't focus at 25 yards. IIRC, it barely focused at 50 yards, too. Then, at 100 yards the wind becomes a significant factor. This shooting stuff is hard. |

Shot this again yesterday. It takes everything I have to complete 25. Even with great ammo and rifle

I have to say that I probably wouldn't even try it in 10-15 mph winds.
Nice looking rifle and good shooting for those conditions. I do believe that is a 50 yard target though. |

I was out a week or so ago trying some different types of ammo at 100 yards.
None of the ammo was doing good at all at 100. This rifle and at least a couple types of ammo are doing really good at 25 and 50 so was a bit disappointed with the results. I tried one 100 yard target and quit after about 10 rounds. Might try some other ammo at 100 later on but with what I have now, there is no point in it. |

I may order some of the SK match based on others reports. Seems the Wolf Match Target has at least 2-3 every 25 rounds.

I suspect it is the determining factor in one's success or failure in shooting a good target relative to one's own shooting abilities. That is especially true at the long, 100 yard distance. We don't see many 100 yard targets posted, do we? Shooting 1 MOA at 100 yards is relatively easy with a centerfire. Shooting 1 MOA at 100 yards with a 22LR is another thing altogether because of the sensitivity to wind deflection. Does any of that fit with what happened? I am just recounting what I experienced last time I shot this. |

The rifle and several types of ammo have been shooting really good at 25 and 50. Shooting off a bipod with a decent rear bag on a solid bench. None of the ammo was consistent enough the even be close on the 100 yard dot target. I haven’t shot the rifle since then. Before the next range trip I am going to check and make sure nothing has come loose. It was that bad. I would get about 3 rounds in a decent group, adjust the scope for that point of impact and the next few rounds would go somewhere else. If everything checks out I’ll go back to the 50 yard range and make sure it is still shooting good there. Maybe try some different ammo. |

Dang, that is a bit on the pricey side. I would only spend that much on fimfire ammo if I was shooting in some type of match.

24???!!! Even indoors, that is truly great shooting!
I could not shoot a 24 even if you put the paper on the muzzle! Shooting well is hard for me. That's what I like about it - the challenge. It requires me to think and work at it. Good job. I am humbled,... again. |

I've been breaking in a CPC tuned 10/22 and I think I want to give this a shot. It's been shooting very well with just CCI Standard and Aguila Super Extra HV round nose. I only have a 8X scope on it (it's a squirrel gun), but I may be able to shoot 25 tacks. It'll be fun to try.

Plus, having all the time in the world to pull off the shot helps a great deal. I’m really liking the Savage FVT. I Debated jumping into a CZ 455, but have been very satisfied with the performance of the Savage. |

Attached File Attached File I guess I suck, but I know that I will get better with practice. I used the 50 yard target at 75 yards. That is the longest distance that we have at our range. It was quite windy and the trigger sucks on this Marlin 17V. I am researching ways to improve the trigger on this gun. Any one have any suggestions? Thanks, Red |

I have never seen that in my shooting but I am not as good as shooter as the person who was talking to me about it. They may "see" what is hidden to me because of my larger groups. To get better ammo than SK Match/Wolf Match Extra starts costing a lot more money for minimal incremental improvements. As you get better and better, that extra cost might be worthwhile. |

Rimfire, in my experience, gets more difficult after 50 yards due to inconsistencies in ammo. I have yet to find any ammo that would let me have any chance at a decent score on the 100 yard targets. Nice looking rifle by the way. |

Their ammo is so much better and their ballistics are so much better, 22LR is just not competitive with them. Note - the game's name is "22LR Tack Driving Range Game". |
