Hello everyone, I shot the 25 yard target with my T-Bolt and my new Ruger American Target laminate, I have pics of everything, I'll get them uploaded in a little bit.
Question on the scoring- if I take a cartridge and place it in the hole and breaks the inner circle it counts as a hit, correct? I have 5 total on the two targets that I marked with question marks as I couldn't quite tell. I'd just like to know! This was a very fun challenge and I look forward to doing it again soon! |

Looking forward to seeing your set up and targets. |

Everything was fired prone from the box of my pickup, with my hand supporting the forend, on top of a cheap bag, and a bag somewhat supporting the butt stock. I also used a suppressor for all of it, as it was too hot for ear pro! Targets were checked to be .375 diameter, and were shot at a measured 25 yards. First, the excuses: It was HOT. And HUMID. And the mosquitos were bad, and the biting flies relentless, even with the Thermacell going right next to me, and I was covered in Deet and another bug spray. The danged bugs would land right on the wet bug spray and try to bite! I resorted to grabbing my Milwaukee cordless fan! (which worked wonderfully to keep me cooler under the topper on my F150) and that kept some of the bugs at bay, but did dry my contacts out somewhat. Ok, enough whining. On to the results! Browning T-Bolt Target/Varmint in a walnut monte carlo stock, Leupold VX2 3-9x33EFR in Talley low rings, stock trigger adjusted to around 3lbs, and barrel shortened, threaded and recrowned locally. Ammo used was Eley Target. https://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c326/Crexrun/public%20album/6DC0C01A-B26E-45D6-9E07-F454A864D740_zpsym8fynh9.jpeg 5 shot group that made me decide I should give this challenge a whirl today...5 rounds of Eley Target https://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c326/Crexrun/public%20album/5BB9D19D-18BB-4A1F-9342-9AADF4DBBCFB_zpshcpfsk0b.jpeg And the reason I was asking about the scoring...I kinda think this is a 25, but I'm calling it a 24, which I'm still very happy with! (I think I can do a bit better with less coffee, and less bug bites!) Including a vengeance shot after I was done on the fly that decided my target a nice place to land. ;-) https://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c326/Crexrun/public%20album/B5A6A1E4-6CC7-4BFC-A639-CC60B5890B62_zpsxeal2zly.jpeg New (used) rifle, Ruger American Target, mounted a Leupold VX Freedom 3-9x33 EFR with old Burris low rings on the stock rail. Stock trigger springs replaced with random parts drawer ones, and breaks at 2 lbs on the nose. Also shortened the stock mag release slightly, otherwise stock. Ammo used was Eley Club https://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c326/Crexrun/public%20album/BDC9E2A3-679B-471B-8C6C-37CE294B1EC9_zpswte14yzr.jpeg I counted 19, then looked closer and it's 22. I wrote 23 mistakenly. It was pretty obvious when I missed... the grip on the gun was different than the shot before. https://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c326/Crexrun/public%20album/DB29F444-97FE-4CE2-8F31-CCE66ADBD35C_zpsapobbjh6.jpeg https://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c326/Crexrun/public%20album/18306230-7692-48EA-A0A5-7D724C3B8460_zps7mwibk9y.jpeg Friends! https://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c326/Crexrun/public%20album/BEDC3851-C796-4E67-9922-2986CD239310_zpsgvxrwu6r.jpeg Damn flies! https://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c326/Crexrun/public%20album/2DB4043A-699A-4275-AA07-1B1F6EF46F69_zps38zf7rao.jpeg Thanks again for putting this challenge up! I had a lot of fun. I'll be shooting it with a peep sight lever gun and my stock 10/22 Target as soon as I'm able. Have a happy 4th everyone! Justin View Quote |

Finally got to the range. First time I have shot this rifle (or any rifle) since last May. Was too hot and humid during the summer and I have been too busy since it cooled off.
Took a while to get myself to slow down and get back in the groove. I fired about 20 warm up rounds and then had just enough time for three targets. Got better on each one. Attached File Attached File Attached File |

I never get to the range when there isn't wind, and gusty winds, too. The air just isn't calm here in the canyons/mountains. The flip side of that coin (for me) is my scope does not focus at 25 yards (25X). I did not plan on using it at such a short distance, so never consider buying an EFR version. At 50 yards, it is fine but then that little issue of wind drift begins to make itself known. It is still a fun time to shoot this. |

Consider this post a place holder.
I Tried... and failed miserably today. Granted I made the dumb decision at starting off at 52 yards (per ranger finder) , but best I could do was 13/25. Next time I'll try 25. |

Bump for interest. I just found this thread, and will print the targets hopefully soonish.
