Hey guys, I need a little help here.
I have 2 rifles in 6.5 Creedmoor. They both shoot the 123SMK very well. Rifle 1 shot a 0.4" group and rifle 2 gave me a 0.325" group and both averaged about 2900 fps. BUT, when I shoot the 147 ELD-M, I can't get anything better than 1" with an average of 2605 fps . I know 1" is a decent hunting group, but is there anything heavier than 123 that I should try? Maybe the 140/142 SMK? Berger? Nosler? Anyone have a good heavy load for 6.5 Creedmoor? Powders I have: Shooters World Precision Varget H4350 IMR4064 CFE-223 AR-Comp |

My advise is to get a 6.5x55 chamber reamer and to load some Lapua Scenars with H-4350

140 HPBT and there you go.
Play with seating depth if it's not working. H4350 is the defacto king. Though Re16 is my fave. |

try the 130 EldM middle of the road weight
41.7 gn shooters world precision 2.800 OAL use at your own risk should be 3000 if you got a 24 inch barrel hammers deer and shoots pretty flat |

Lots of things out of stock. |

Which 130gr Bergers?
Looking at the 6.5 mm 130 Grain Very Low Drag (VLD) Hunting Rifle Bullet. |

My understanding is that their Hybrid line is easier to load for compared to the VLD's including jump. There have been several threads on them over at Snipershide. That's where I was reading about them. |

What rifles? Twists? Barrel lengths?
H4350 and 140s is a pretty easy formula that's been used since 2007. If a shorter barrel then a faster powder might work a little better for velocity. |

Rifles are both 1:8 twist.
One is 20” and the other is 22”. I ordered a couple different bullets to try out. 140gr SMK 140gr Barnes Match Burner 139gr Lapua Scenar Will see how these go. Now I gotta sell all the 147ELD-Ms and SST I have. |

View Quote How far are you planning to shoot? The 140SMK is about the worst 6.5 bullet to shoot. Has a terrible BC. May give you some accuracy though. The Match Burners are better. You should try the 140 ELD-M. |

I have tried ELD-Ms in all my rifles. 308, 6.5Grendal and 6.5 CM. For some reason I can never get them to shoot even close to decent. I must be doing something wrong with them. Maybe seating depth? That is why I am staying away from anything Hornady.
SMKs have always been good for me. I would like to take these rifles out to 1000yds which is why I would like something a bit heavier than the 123SMKs. |

[#12]
Not sure why you can't get them to shoot but if looking for other bullets then I'd look at some better bullets as heavier does not always mean better even at long range. What you are looking for is a better BC. I would use the 142 SMK if wanting to try a SMK.

I will see if I can find some 140 ELD-Ms and do some research on how they like to be loaded.

[#14]
Load them at .020” off the lands if you can load into an AICS mag that should work. If they are longer than saami freebore chambers as sometimes factory are then just load to mag max length.

FPNI..no surprise there though.

140g eld with h4350 has worked great for me. It'd be work to find a load that didn't shoot! My rifle doesn't much care on charge weight or seating depth with the 140g eld. Shoots very well out to 1265yds, vertical was around .2mil at that range but the wind kicked my butt that day.

Will see if I can find some 140ELDs.
