Decided to upgrade the B14R a little. It's got a new (used) left hand AICS 2.0 chassis, Timney 'The Hit' trigger, Atlas bipod and a my homemade F1 suppressor. Hopefully I'll get some glam pics at the range later this week. Attached File The new Viperskins arrived (to delete the thumbhole) and I took the B14R out today--feels almost exactly like my centerfire precision rifle now and shoots even better than before. Just did some plinking at my KYL target and the only one that gave me any trouble was the 1/4"--and it still got smacked around more often than not  Attached File Attached File |

Yall have some amazing rifles! About as Precision as it gets at my place is this Kimber Trainer.  But the one I enjoy shooting most is this burnt bronze Ruger American which currently has a Burris 4-14. Whisper quiet with the Dead Air Mask and shoots nice small groups at 50 yards with CCI Standard (not as small as some of these though!).  |

I haven’t had this rifle out of the safe in a few years. If memory serves me, there are no tapped holes for mounting bases unless you get something that attaches to the sight blocks maybe? That is a 20 (maybe more?) MOA base that attaches to the front dovetail. I am not sure what is available now, but when I put that together, that was the only base I knew about. Several guys that shot local 22 F Class used that base/ scope combo so I decided to give it a try. The scope served its purpose but as one would expect from a $100 8-32 scope, it was quite hazy at most and almost unusable at its highest power. I have considered taking it out and revamping it. Having a proper base mounted via D&T holes and setting something like a Vortex Venom 5-25 on it. |

I did not intend to disparage the scope mount in any way, especially for rimfire use (low recoil). I just hadn't seen that before. It's a very nice rifle. Regarding scopes, I always, always balk at the high price of quality optics and mounts ($1k - $3k, ouch!). Once I spend the money, I always appreciate them and a few months later the high price is completely forgotten and all that remains is the great optical performance. Every single time I've gone cheap on optics, I have regretted the purchase as a waste of money. I have taken to using one scope on multiple rifles to ease the total cost - one great scope on two or three rifles. Buy the best you can afford or justify, and enjoy it for the rest of your life. |

I posted this over in the 22 sub forum but my intentions are to shoot an NRL match or two this year, as my club is an affiliate. I’m not a competitive shooter at all and I realize this is going to put me into the open classification but I just want to shoot. I ordered some Vortex Pro rings and I’m going to stick my PST II 3-15x44 on it. Attached File Attached File Attached File |

Totally agree! I still can’t afford real high end, but I have stepped up a few notches in what quality I find acceptable. I do like the idea of one scope for multiple rifles. I took that rifle out yesterday and clocked velocities of a few different types of ammo and did some shooting at 50 yards. It shoots great but now I see we are gonna need a trigger/ trigger work, and I found a mount by EGW that attaches to the sight block mounting screws next to the receiver. That seems much sturdier. Plus it is a rail, so it will accept any ring and not limit me to a 1” scope. The BMR is back together. I wanted it set up more like my B-14R carbon and B-14R steel rifles so I added a 250mm ARCA rail, added steel BB's to the forearm and sealed the forearm with epoxy resin. The resin and BB's improved the balance of the rifle and the rigidity of the forearm. The Timney HIT trigger is set to 7 ounces and the Hawkeye cheek piece works out very well. Just ordered an Eric Cortina EC tuner V2 for the BMR; they really do make a difference on the B-14R's using Eley Match which the BMR seems to love as well. |

I haven't even shot it yet and I like it a lot. the stock is far nicer than i expected. This thing has me thinking I need a big brother, Bergara Crest maybe. It's going to need a more suitable scope, this Trijicon Accupower doesnt have AO. Cant decide whether I want to just sight this at 50 and stick with it for a bit or just get a new scope.

It may actually reduce recoil but how much recoil does a 22LR have to begin with? :) I took the thread protector off one night to try a can out on it to see if I wanted to go through all the BS to obtain one. It rolled off the bench and bounced off the floor into oblivion never to be seen again. Had to have went into some 3rd dimension. Anyway I was at Cabelas and they had this one on the rack top fit an AR15 for like $20 and the rest is history. |

I was pissed when I saw the price was almost half of what I have invested in this thing. Then I noticed that it wasnt actually a Boyds At-One stock. Had me fooled for a minute. Its a lot of fun to put in the truck when I go to the range. It turns out to be the talk of the range over guns that I have that cost 3 times what this one did. |

Remington's 40X .22LR from that era combined graceful lines, the beauty of wood, great fit and finish, with amazing accuracy. She should shoot great when you find the ammo she likes. Every barrel is a bit different. My slightly more modern early '70s 541-S Custom Sporter.  |
 Took my cz457 out for the first time today- 20moa rail, vortex rings and a diamondback 2-8x32 that I had on the shelf. Shot 200 rounds of 40g CCI cheap stuff thru it. Just trying to get the barrel broke in a little. Last few 5 shot groups were about .75 at 100. what are you guys doing for cleaning the barrel? How often? |

I'm extremely impressed with that stock for the price. My only complaint is that I had to inlet the barrel channel more to get it to clear. Just got inside from shooting this group with that rifle. Needless to say I'm happy with how it performs  |

Here is my Savage MkII BTVLL in a Rigid Alloy chassis with a Swampfox Optics Patriot 6-24 scope. It shoots very well with CCI Mini Mags but I still want to test better ammo in it. Attached File And here is my AR22 setup. The upper attached to the lower has a 16" CMMG heavy barrel with an Arken SH4 6-24 scope. It does very well with CCI Standard. Next to it is an upper I just put together yesterday. It has a Bore Buddy 21" Apogee barrel with 1-12 twist and match chamber. It also has an Arken SH4 6-24 scope. I know I will get trouble for my choice of Arken scopes, but they work well for me and fit my budget. I am curious how the 1-12 twist Bore Buddy barrel will do compared to the CMMG 1-16 twist barrel. I plan on getting a ARCA rail, compatible Atlas bipod etc. Barrel shoots well enough for now and will get my feet wet into PRS.
