I’ve contacted both companies and heard their selling points and now I’d like to hear from those who’ve shot them.  Not to be rude, but I’m not looking for other options for my project.

I’m building a 7mm PRC just for plinking and in case the I decide to get back into hunting.  I’m not worried about weight, so what say you…

Manners.

Much newer and better designs, and I think better built.

I’ve only shot one McMillan so no deep experience. I have shot multiple Manners and own one. I would go manners unless there is something unique about a McMillan that you want.

I only have 5 or 6 McMillans.   They more often than not F up the order and your recourse with them is to take it or get back in line and wait another four months for your build time to pop up again.  That is shitty for their mistake but that’s what they do.

I have got the wrong inlet on trigger guards from what I ordered, wrong camo pattern, wrong cheek piece style on one, wrong adjustable cheek piece mechanism on another.

The current prices kind of eclipsed my budgets.   $1k for a stock I really cannot justify.

If I had to buy a stock today I’d lean toward Manners.

Love my Manners.  Great product, great support.

ETA: Some details.  When I first got it (through Stocky's) there was a chip in the gelcoat.  I called Stocky's and they didn't want to hear about it.  I called Manners and Tom answered the phone, sent me a shipping label, and told me to send the barreled action in with it, and he bedded it for me.  For free.

That's how you make a customer for life.

I’ve bought several manners (and McMillans) and had two manners issues. Once they sent the wrong mag, once a chipped stock. Both times they sent a label and had the shipping company pick up at my house. 10/10, people fuck up but there’s a way to fix it so people are happier than if they’d gotten the right stuff to begin with.

Manners

And spring for their bedding block/bottom metal.  It's spendy, but beats the shit out of having to deal with dealing with getting a  bottom metal set perfect for mag feeding.  Call them, they will explain it all.  Great people

Manners, or you could spend half as much and go with HS (I just wish they would offer AICS bottom metal, their own stuff is amazing, just proprietary and expensive). Maximum value proposition is KRG, depending on features you are looking for.

McMillan just exists to fleece cloners.

Yup, worth the money for sure as its bedding block, DBM and trigger guard all in one.  I use one on my 300 PRC, and its one of the primary reason I went with a Manners stock with the mini chassis with 300 RUM mags vs anything else.

I love my Manners EH8+, its been an awesome stock.  I like my HSP with their DBM too, its just not nearly as light despite being the 'sporter' version.

I have three Manners stocks and would buy another.

No experience with McMillan.

So, if I wanted to build a 7mm PRC, which Manners stock should I go with?

I have no experience with McMillan but I have a couple Manners stocks. I wanted the mini chassis installed on them after having them for a decent time frame and went to their website to find out that the mini chassis were only sold as an upgrade when building a new stock. I was disappointed and sent them an email inquiring about it anyways hoping they'd change their mind. Jim got back with promptly and had me send some pics with measurements of the inlet area. Then talked with Drew, Tom's son, and emailed me back and said sure, we can do that. Here's the price and amount of time to expect to do the work. Price was incredibly good. They've earned an attaboy from me. Unless anything changes I'll be a Manners guy

I've got a McMillan HTG and an A5, and a Manners T2A and T4A.  They've all been great stocks.  I'd say pick whichever has features or geometry you prefer and go with it.
