Lgs had a 2019 ruger precision rifle in 6.5cm with 26" barrel. Saw it last Monday, but managed to resist. Been thinking about it all week, and couldnt stop. Lol. Well, had to stop in there today for a bit of hunting mmo, and i was hoping it was gone, to help save my budget for November. Nope, damn thing was still sitting there looking at me seductively !  They wanted $900 for it, and I unfortunately was too weak to resist it anymore. So....grabbed it.  But anyway, its a nice rifle, iv been badly wanting one for long range shooting to be my primary training rifle, so I'm set up in the rifle dept, iv got a vortex strike eagle 5x25 etc I'll put on it as my main scope, which should work well enough. 6.5cm is pretty budget friendly far as long range calibers go. Buddy has a 2000 yard range at his farm 25 miles away in BFE, so iv got a good close place to work on my long range shooting. In january I'll grab a 500ct box of sierra 140g game kings / match kings are start loading some ammo for it. I really like this rifle so far, later on I'll probably buy a second one, in .300 win mag / 300prc or maybe even 338 lapua, that should be fun.  New blaster. Attached File |

$900? You got a bargain. I suggest you replace the stock with a Magpul PRS. You can even get the new 4th Gen RPR Stock that will work on previous Generation RPR's Ruger Precision Rifle Buttstock Assembly However you might get a better price on the Magul PRS and get a Precision rifle grip. The one that comes with the RPR is a standard A2 AR-15 grip poorly suited for precision shooting. I would also highly suggest replacing the factory bolt shroud with an aftermarket one as it is flimsy and has been known to come off. Before you go loading for it, go find some Hornady American Gunner 140 grain. I have shot that ammo thru 4 different RPR's and its been a one hole groups for all of em, and at about a buck a round ( 200 round boxes ) its hard to beat. finally got around to ordering bullets. few days ago i bought a 500 ct box of 140g sierra game king ballistic tip bullets for the 6.5cm rifles i have and working on getting brass off the ee right now. my plan is, every month from now on, for AT LEAST the next year, i will be buying at minimum a 500 ct box of those SGK bullets, and probably a few 500 ct boxes of sierra match king bullets too, probably get 2 different bullet weights for each caliber, including sgk and smk bullet types. i love the SMK, i bought 5000 of the 168g .308 version back in 2012 and they are extremely accurate bullets. i bought 6.5cm this month, prob buy another box of 6.5cm next month ( since we have 5, 6.5cm rifles currently and adding at least 2 more later this year, and will be shooting that caliber the most as well ) , then go 168g / 195g .308 / .300 win mag, 150 / 180g 7mm mag. you get the idea. im planning on doing a lot of long range shotting and reloading this year, add a kestrel with applied ballistics, prob a stainless pin tumbler, a auto measure, and then at add at minimum , 1000 bullets in each caliber . probably 1000 7mm mag, then 2000-3000 .308 and 6.5 cal bullets, as well as a bunch of brass for each and a bit of primers and powder as well occasionally. im pretty good on powder and primers but can never have enough. just sucks they killed IMR 4895, that shits my favorite gun powder. fuckers. luckily i have around 20lbs at least, but wish i had more, planning on buying some 8lb jugs of it off gunbroker sometime soon. |

solid choices for what you're doing. the profile of the SMK is great for being non-finicky, easy to load, forgiving on seating depth and powder charge weight, etc. That makes it accurate over the barrel life, and across lots of rifles. Fed GM Match 308's reputation was all due to the 168g SMK. |

I’m slowly getting geared up to reload for 6.5cm. I mean Iv got a ton of supplies and equipment for other calibers, loads of primers, bullets, powder, cases, etc.. just nothing at all for 6.5cm, or 7mm mag or heavy bullets for 300 win mag. Last month I bought a 500ct box of 140g sierra game king bullets, 1500 pcs of brass and a new reloading manual. This month another 500ft box of those same bullets, RCBS 6.5cm dies, and a Frankfort arsenal case prep / trimmer station. Every month I’ll be buying a 500 ct box of bullets, rotating thru 140g 6.5cm, 168g .308, 195g 300 win mag, 150g 7mm mag. Rinse repeat each month to a new caliber or new bullet weight. I need some equipment upgrades though, like that case prep station I just got. In addition to that, I really need a stainless pin tumbler case cleaner set up, and a good auto powder measure / scale combo too. I’ll get those last two over the next 2-3 months to help speed things up. ABSOLUTELY will be reloading and long range shooting a LOT this summer.. Oh.. also need a new garmin chronograph and a kestrel wind calculator too.. but they won’t happen until middle to late summer. |

was telling my buddy about my rcbs reloading gear upgrades and how by june i should be fully upgraded and reloading. him.. " hey, iv got a spare RCBS charge master you can have , i dont need 2 anymore since we stopped competing competitions ". me.  thanks man !  heck yeah ! that saves me around $300 or so for that month, ill order 2 boxes of SGK that month !
