Well i just bought a Proof MTR at a reasonable price from what i've seen.

I ended up getting it in 308....

I just need to determine what prefit barrel in 223 now etc...

Proof MTR or build

Honestly i want to just push the easy button and just buy a rifle.  But i'm not hung up on carbon barrels at all i want pure accuracy.
The problem is nothing is "exactly" what i want.

I've watched a couple of videos never built a bolt gun.

Is it really this easy just to buy a origin action and screw prefit barrels on and have a 1" gun or less?
It just seems almost to easy.

I would like to know exactly what barrel vise / action wrench etc that i need to purchase and some reputable online vendors to go through for actions barrels etc etc. ..

I really want to start with a 223 but the ability to just buy a bolt head and barrel really appeals to me if it's honestly that easy.

I'll bet there's got to be some shops in Texas too that can help you out.

I pretty much knew it but definitely too light for a target rifle.
I believe it will make the finest overpriced hunting rifle of my life though.

I just have to decide if im going to go with 223 or delve into 6 mm arc or 6 br

100 yards

Group on the right is my reloads 168 smk
Group on the left is 168 winchester silvertip factory ammo

My brother has the can im going to put on it hopefully that will help a little with recoil management.

Im not disappointed i figured it would be to light i just had to try it.

Southern Precision rifles had a origin 223 receiver last night....... I couldn't resist having two.

Now i have to pick a barrel , vise and action wrench.   I know i'm going to buy a triggertech and a krg bravo to do this with.

Try a brake on it, it will make a world of difference. Something like a Hawkins, ACE, or Insite will reduce recoil by close to 50% while not being super concussive at the shooter. I run a few of the Hawkins and have an extra .30 cal if you want to give one a try. Or buy one of those new TBAC Magnus suppressors with the recoil reducing brake while you’re a on a buying streak.

@hiih8r

Thank you for the kind offer.

I have a 5/8-24 direct thread adapter for our lahar 30 on the way.

If i don't like that setup I'll need a supressor mount / brake for a dead air sandman.

I don't know what the best available brake for dead air keymo is available?

Another can probably isn't anytime soon i don't have glass yet either.

The keymo system is not known for accuracy, quite the opposite actually. That’s also a heavy can which is going to cause a significant POI shift with a CF barrel.

You’ll probably have much better results with the lighter direct thread can.

Well the direct thread adapter is on the way.

Bartlein 223 barrel ordered as well.

I’m resisting the urge to buy a 6br barrel

They are fantastic rifles and worth the money.

Well i got out today with the lahar 30/ direct thread combo.

It shot really good i mean tiny groups.  It will definitely be my serious hunting rifle now.  Not sure i will ever swap calibers on this one now.

This rifle is an awesome hunting rifle in this configuration but i'd never recommend it for anything else. It's just to light.

I ran into a guy at the range who actively shoots prs and got to get behind a manners stock finally. Absolutely loved it.

Now i'm completely torn on what stock to buy for my 223 / future calibers.

Stick with my original plan on starting with the krg bravo or go all in on the manners.

If a Manners is what you want you’re only going to waste $150 or better buy time you buy a KRG accept it’s not what you want and sell it for a loss to get what you want. I would just get what you want from the get go. $500 or so more on a major component like a stock really isn’t a lot of money when it comes to custom rifles.
