My Dad offered to pay for half of my class if I go with him and my brother to a Gunsite Scout Rifle Class....  I sounds great but I don't have a Scout Rifle....I do got and old Mauser 98 with a 16.5" barrel that is chambered for 7.62x51 but no scope mount...For my needs I would much rather spend my $ on a carbine AR10 or FN/FAL...

What do you all think?  How much is that Mauser worth? Ball Park?

The most fun I've ever had in a training course was a Practical Rifle course.

Your mauser will suffice. You don't really need a forward mounted "scout scope" and it shouldn't be too difficult to mount a conventional scope.

They'll be very lenient with sighting options. Go.
