An FYI for clubs looking for ammo. ATK is now excepting requests for orders of .22LR (the Blazer #21 load 1235 FPS only) through YSSA. There are a few hoops to jump through so hopefully advisers and club leaders jump on this since the deadline is March 19th.
Link to YSSA page There is a "submit program" button at the top right of page if your program isn't listed. I hope this helps a few folks here find the vapor-like .22LR for their club. I can forward a copy of the email with the PDF order form if anyone needs it. Here is the text from the PDF I received. 2014 Youth Rimfire Direct Sale Program Courtesy of Federal Premium and CCI.
Orders Accepted March 1 to March 19th, 2014. Emails, faxes, or postmarks by 3/19/14. Limited to approved youth programs including 4H Shooting Sports, Youth Camps, Junior Program, Scholastic Pistol Program, Jr. CMP, collegiate, high school or similar organizations. Boy Scouts have a separate program. Only one .22 Long Rifle load is available, the CCI Blazer #21 load with a 40 grain lead round nose bullet at 1235 feet per second. THIS IS NOT STANDARD VELOCITY. Price per case is $153, with no additional shipping charge. This is a pre-pay program, so orders must include a check or credit card. Programs must be listed on the Youth Shooting Sports Alliance directory, and must submit a copy of their webpage from YSSA with the application as proof. http://www.youthshootingsa.com/ ‘Submit a New Program’. It may take a few days for new submissions to appear on the website, so plan ahead. YSSA is not involved in this direct sale program, so please do not direct questions to them. If you are claiming sales tax exemption you must include the Sales and Use Tax Exemption Certificate from your state taxing authority with the order or we will have to charge sales tax. Individual clubs are limited to 3 cases, or 15,000 rounds. A case contains 5000 rounds. Camps are limited to 10 cases, or 50,000 rounds. Ammunition is scheduled to be produced and shipped in April. We do not anticipate offering any other youth .22 long rifle programs in 2014. We do not plan on offering any youth shotshell programs in 2014. THIS AMMUNITION IS NOT FOR RESALE, AND MAY ONLY BE USED IN THE OPERATIONS OF APPROVED YOUTH SHOOTING SPORTS EDUCATION PROGRAMS. PLEASE REPORT ANY SUSPECTED VIOLATIONS OF THESE TERMS TO THE FEDERAL CONSERVATION AND YOUTH PROGRAM. |

From email yesterday:
UPDATE:
The order form for the rimfire program will be out on March 31st, and we will accept orders April 1 to April 15. We are currently pushing out the remaining orders for the youth shotshell program, which should wrap up over the next week and a half. We are finalizing details on the rimfire program and pricing, but individual programs will be limited to approximately 25,000 rounds. Camps will be capped at 50,000 rounds unless they get approval from me for more. We will offer a standard velocity round and a high velocity round, and you will choose one or the other. The only form of payment we can accept for the youth program at this time is checks. No credit cards. As we have required for several years now, your club, team or camp has to be registered on the Youth Shooting Sports Alliance online-directory. The YSSA is not involved with this ammo sales program, so please don’t direct questions to them. The YSSA is a non-profit organization made up of a number of gun/ammo and outdoors companies that supports youth shooting, and our company also supports them. We require programs to be listed in the directory because we have an expectation that programs receiving support from us are actively trying to grow the shooting sports, and the YSSA directory is the most complete source of information for parents who are looking to get their kids into shooting sports programs. Their website is http://www.youthshootingsa.com/. It may take a couple of days before the YSSA staff can review your application and post your information on the website, but we will require you to send in a copy of your directory page with the order form when you place your order. I can’t quote an exact price because we are still working that out. Four to six cents a round is a good estimate for planning purposes. Orders will have to be in case increments, and in all likelihood we will have both 5,000 round cases and 3,250 round cases in the program. Our goal will be to deliver this ammo before the end of May. Ammo in this program is not for resale for profit, it is being made available exclusively for youth and collegiate programs to shoot as part of their competitive, educational and safety training programs. Violations of these terms will be policed. Please understand that administering this program with a large number of small orders requires a great deal of effort by our customer service team, primarily Leslie Pavel, so she does not always have the time to respond to inquiries immediately and she can be difficult to reach as she is processing all of these orders. We have been informed that the Boy Scouts have an agreement with one of our competitors to provide the majority of ammunition for BSA summer camps. That is why we are able to increase the cap on orders for individual program (it was only 15,000 rounds last year) because we are projecting that that will free up nearly 10 million rounds. IF you are a BSA camp I would check on that program with your national BSA office first. 4H, junior programs, SSSF, Project Appleseed, NRA YHEC, Scouts, and countless other programs participate in this youth rimfire program. As you are well aware, demand for .22LR still exceeds the industry’s ability to supply it. Guaranteeing youth programs access to this ammo means that our existing retail customers have to wait longer for their existing back orders, so please be sensitive to that and make sure that you are supporting your local retailers as well. Here's this year's info:
Dear Youth Shooting Sports Program Leaders: We hope to have the remaining youth shotshell orders wrapped up this week, so we are now turning our attention to the youth rimfire program. We will offer a program almost identical to last year, except we will be able to accept credit cards. CCI Standard Velocity and Federal’s Automatch will be the two main options, but for those that can benefit from high level precision .22 ammo we may also make Ultramatch .22 (UM22) available. The same caps as last year will be in place- 5 cases of the 5,000 round CCI #35 load (25,000 rounds) OR 8 cases of the 3250 round bulk pack cases of AM22 (26,000 rounds.) Camps and high volume programs can exceed that cap with prior approval. Pricing will be essentially the same as last year, so plan on 4 cents a round for AM22 and just over 5 cents a round for CCI #35. Ultra Match is over 30 cents a rounds- this is not plinking ammo, it is for precision match grade rifles. Also please note that you will have to select either the CCI 35 or the AM22 load. No mixing or partial orders. That is because of the cap we have in place, the different increments the cases contain, and the fact that they come from different factories in either Idaho or Minnesota. Look for the order form on or before March 1st, and we will accept orders through March 22nd. Our goal will be to deliver before the end of May. Instructions will be included on the order form. If your program has not registered in the Youth Shooting Sports Alliance directory, you should do that now before placing your order because we do require youth programs that we work with to be available to new shooters and the YSSA directory is the most comprehensive directory that currently exists. Find the directory at: http://www.youthshootingsa.com/ As always, this is for use in educational youth programs only, and is not for resale at a profit. Violations of these terms will be investigated and we will take action. Thanks for your patience. We look forward to getting your participants safely on the range very soon.
