My son made this video at the range yesterday. The slow-mo is kind of cool, particularly the sound of the spent cartridges hitting the concrete floor...

My son and I both feel the AK-74 break performs better. With the slant break installed the thing about knocks you down.
Don't you love the slow-mo on that video? Sounds like he is shooting a 40mm canon and the "plink" sound the cartridges make when they hit the pavement is really cool. |

Wow, that's pretty awesome. Very nice quality, too. What kind of camcorder were you using? I have an unknown make USA made AK-74 style brake for my Khyber Pass build I picked up from Cope's. |

Awesome job on the vid!!
Always kinda wanted to see a good test on it, that vid told me alot!! I have a rifle with each, a slant, and a 74 style one. I always liked the 74 style, but it adds a bit of weight to the front of the rifle, but when your wanting fast second shots, it's the one to have. The slant though is a good break, takes the lift out of the muzzle, and keeps it light. So IMO with the advantages and disadvantages of each, I'd call the slant and 74 brake even.... |

I can only speak to my experience shooting the AK without any break, with the slant break and then with the AK 74. I experienced a lot more recoil with the slant break, and it was noticeably easier to shoot with the AK 74. I'd recommend simply trying them both out, it's cheap enough to do that. Enjoy. | I watched it again carefully and I think the slow-mo version really does show that the AK-74 break has the least recoil. I am sure he didn't mean to, but I bet he anticipated the harsher recoil from the slant break and unwittingly compensated it just a bit. It sure kicked my shoulder around when I used it. |

I was really impressed too and I'm in to digital photography, but my older Canon 5 has no such video capability.
The picture is/was ok, I mean, it was fine, but the sound recording quality is what really blew me away. Hah. No pun intended. |

If anyone in the DFW area or north has a DAQ with decent resolution, I can write a LabVIEW program and we can get some real data. Thats a great demonstration though, and it clearly illustrates the effectiveness of the brakes. |
| Nice, informative video! I would have probably left out the tapco words myself though. The people who trash on your sons AK are probably children who have never even shot one. If you get into the habbit of reading comments on youtube videos, there is almost always stupid ones on any type of video. |

Awesome video! I've got a US made birdcage on my AES-10B, it made a nice difference in comparison to the factory muzzle nut, but I might have to pick up a 74 style brake to see if it's an improvement.

| Nice video, My three comments are a) the slant does more than I thought it would - b) I would love to see the PWS FSC47 compared in this manner - c) the shooting position/stance when the AK74 style break was tested is totally different from when the slant break was tested and might be exaggerating the results.... |
