Quoted: SLR-100's were receivers brought into the US from Bulgaria and built up using parts kits from Poland and Hungary. Depends on the condition of the parts and who put them together.
The SLR-101's were complete rifles imported by Arsenal Inc. They were single stack receivers that were opened up to accomodate standard military magazines and had their thumbhole stocks replaced with US made K-Var stocks.

Are the SLR-101 rifles hit or miss like WASRs when it comes to how tight the magazine fits? Are there any real disadvantages of it over the ones made with double stack magazine wells right off the bat? The reason I ask is because my local shop has one for pretty cheap.

If it's "pretty cheap", make sure it's been machined out for the military magazines, and that it's not a single stack only rifle, there are some SLR-101's that were unconverted single stacks out there.
Some of the SLR-101's may have tighter mag wells than others....and the fit and finish is below that of the M7 series. Having said that, if you can pick up the SLR-101 for around $500 and you don't want to spend anymore, it's a fine rifle and will run like a raped ape.
