I've been in the process of accumulating kits and parts to do some builds.  I'm interested in purchasing some 80% receivers so that there is no need to do an FFL transfer.  I want to keep them off the books if possible when and if I ever get around to being able to finish them.

My question is if anyone has ordered from Cold Steel Solutions before?

If so, how did you like their receivers?  Everything match up and work?  Or PIA and/or some work to get them to work?

Which size did you order or recommend (0.040 or 0.064)?

Does anyone have another company that they have used or prefer?

I would like to order some in the next few days so hopefully that doesn't limit my choices.  I would prefer that the company have them in stock.  I don't mind waiting a couple of weeks.

Thanks,

DK

i assume you mean prebents, and not flats.

make sure you get a dang good template, the holes are critical.

flats are easier, just buy a press from harbor freight for 100 bucks and rent quarterbore's bending jig for 20 bucks to bend it.

Yes, to clarify I meant 80% pre-bent receivers.

The quality is nice with cold steal blanks.   Pokiemans auto cad templete is the way to go there is a way to down load the free version on the website.  The templete for the bottom of the receiver, the trigger/hammer holes, selector lever and the center support.  Use a drill guide to start the holes and with the trigger/hammer/selector holes start with the small hole first and go through both sides of the receiver with a peice of wood in the receiver, i've found the holes never match up with both sides of the templete.  Use a guide to cut off the top rails with a drimmal, use two peices of 3/16 inch x 2 inch x 12 inch long flat stock glued togeather with about an inch overlap, clamp it to the reicever as a guide for your cutoff wheel for the upper rails.

The coldsteel yugo blank was about the only way to go for a long time (1.6mm/.064).

don't let them center punch them for you though, heard they are off and if your in a hurry you might want to think about a flat.  Coldsteel takes about a month or so to ship.
