I'm thinking of picking up a PSL from AIM Surplus.
1. What kind of condition are these rifles in?
2. Are they missing any parts?
3. Is there anything I should ask wile placing my order?
4. Anyone have photos of their AIM Surplus PSL?

Here is my info.  Had the rifle about a week...

My PSL from AIM

Also you can search PSL and find about 20 or so threads about them.

Mine was dated 1976 with a 1978 scope.  All in excellent condition.  Mine had an early screwed on muzzle break and a fuctioning bayonet lug.  Got scope, scope cover, rubber scope lens cover and eye piece, 4 mag pouch,2 mags(new), oil bottle, and tube type cleaning kit with only a small punch inside  I did not get a cleaning rod.  I ask the sales folks if the rifle had the eye piece and rubber cover since the internet pics didn't show them  and they said no.  But Mine came with them.  If you go to "Gunboards Forums"  AK/SKS collectors and you can see mine under the heading AIM PSL.  Mine shoots as good as it looks.  Wish I'd bought one 10 years ago!................Mike

Mine is great, it is accurate with hard sights; I still haven't figured out the scope. Buy cheap Apex mags, they were sent to me advartised as rusty, but they look new.

^^^

Just a word of warning... the pretty ones may be running out.  I just ordered 6.  Got 5, they're sending the one they forgot hopefully tomorrow.
Mine all had at least a spot of rust where the mag body meets the top feed lip area.  I had one rusted inside... and pretty serious pitting on one feed lip.
And another with cosmetic rust in about 8 places on it.  All of mine had rust on the rear locking lugs, and most had a spot or two by the serial #'s.
In all they all should be functional.  But I had two with rust on the followers as well.

Most of mine came with an average of 4 or so areas of rust.  Usually one good spot, and some pitting.  Then other minor small surfacey stuff.

I hit the troubled area's with a wire wheel on a dremel, and touched them up with perma blue.  Can't beat them for the price as long as they work.
But I think the better ones are starting to run out.

So if you are thinking about it, it could be luck of the draw, (which would explain me getting slightly crappier ones) or they could be getting low on the nicer ones.

Once the rifle shows up I'll be able to fill 2 mag pouches, and that's what I was after.  I'll check them all for feeding, and use the ugliest.
But for $12... as opposed to $35-40... they are still worth it.  Even if they are all as bad as my worst.

Got it today from Aim.  It's in great shape.  After 2 hours of cleaning cosmo out of every crack and crevice.
1975 Build / 1977 scope.
Bore is perfect.  It's park not paint.  Real FSB with a working plunger.  (spot weld on bottom)
My stock and hand guards match better than the pictures would lead you to believe.  Mags fit well.

Scope was a little roughed up, a chip or two here and there.  But is still clean and clear.  Covers were beat up.  But again, work.

Triggers are the worst of any commie gun I have ever touched.  Absolute deplorable horse shit. But that won't be staying anyway.
If it shoots half as good as it looks.  I'll be tickled all kinds of rosy colors.

So far it is way better than any one I have ever seen for sale at a shop, or show in the last 2 years.  (Usually for $800-900)
I am totally happy with it so far.

This is why I recommend AIM to people... and spend my money there.  Good value.  Good prices, and things happen like they say they will.
If they say a week, you have it in a week.  They said 7-10 I had it in 12 including 2 weekends.
Good stuff!

Go get a Red StarArms adjustable trigger set and install it correctly (follow the directions exactly!) and you will be amazed at the difference.

She's a beauty.  My trigger slicked up after 3 cleanings and around a hundred rounds fired.  Lots of park/crud in the trigger group.  These trigger/firing pins can take a lifetime of dry fire, so have at it...........again, nice that your wood is matched.  I had to stain mine.......................Mike

Just got one a few days ago.....Nice wood...fairly matched.....Most numbers match, or at least the important ones. APex mags have a tiny bit of pitting, but not bad at all...and they all fit the mag well.....Now I have to get out and try it out...

I sped up the trigger group break in by mirror polishing all the contact surfaces.  I adjusted the disconnector some, and then reshaped the approach on the claw.  I had all kinds of gritty contact on the nose of the claw before the trigger broke.  And with all the rough parts in the metal this is what made it so - horrible.

It still has a fair amount of slack, but it will hit the disconnector, then break perfectly clean now.  It's an 'almost' 2 stage now.  And the pull is predictable, and breaks cleaner than my G2's in other AK's.
It took some work, but I fixed it.  All the bad stuff contributes to extra material to work with.  Which makes it possible to fix into something that's nice to shoot.

Which is good.  It allows me to hold off on the RSA trigger for now.  Although, it's nice enough now... I will probably skip.  I don't need adjustable.  And the pull isn't bad.

I got 1 3/8" 100m group from the PSL and Privi Partizan 150gr FMJBT a few hours ago.  Had 4 rounds into 3/4" and my 5th round opened it to 1 3/8".  These rifles are very capable of MOA if fed the right ammo....Mike  P.S. I allowed the rifle to cool for 5-6 minutes between shots(boreing), to obtain tight groups.
