My question is about the AK and PSL recoil spring. I know with the PSL recoil spring, it is one piece so that the carrier's travel forward and back would be more uniform an consistent, thereby giving it alittle more accuracy. Where as the AK47/74 recoil spring is a two piece rod that bends and thus the carrier's travel would not be as consistent and not as accurate. My question is, do they make a PSL style recoil spring for the AK74? I am interested in getting one, if they do.

Neither the spring nor the rod are moving in battery.
Once the bolt rotates and locks, none of that matters.

Not wanting to be a wise ass but it's not called a Recoil Spring in the AK, it's called a Driving Spring.
Kind of like people calling a Mag. a Clip it's just plain wrong.

The carrier moves a maximum of 3/16ths of an inch before the bullet leaves the barrel.
It's unlikely that getting a more uniform movement for that distance will make a noticable difference in accuracy.

And consider this, if that rod were not two pieces and did not collapse then the action would have to be that much longer.

Someone will come along and nitpick my statement saying that all motion in the gun contributes to reducing accuracy.
It does but only in the sense that it "disturbs" your aim.
In the AK, it's the sloppy tolerances, generous chamber dimensions, poor barrels and cheap ammo that degrade mechanical accuracy.
The ergonomics, recoil and poor sights pile onto that.

Does match ammo in 7.62 x 39mm even exist? Match chambers?
You could probably work up a load in fireformed brass that complimented an aftermarket barrel but that's a lot of work.
But the "legendary reliability" would go out the window with the newer, tighter tolerances.
Remember, it's an assault weapon. Designed for function and ease of maintenance over accuracy.

Only in the minds of the marketing directors of a few importers

I have found the 7.62x39 Silver Bear 125 Gr. Soft Point Ammo. to be very accurate in my SLG-21 Saigas, not trying to tell everyone it's a 1MOA Ammo. but it will do a good job IMHO.
