Is there any way to reliably mount a scope to an AK?  Just wondering.

I have a wood stock and handguards, but I was supposed to have them sanded and stained, but I can't seem to get my friend to get in touch with the guy that's supposed to do it; and if he can't, I may just put tactical-type stuff on it.

There is an optics forum full of threads on the subject.  Here's the pic thread from it:  http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=4&f=56&t=116492

Shoot, i've seen rear sight mounts, side rail, gas tube, top cover, and rails that attach over the whole top cover.  I'd say the side mount is probably the strongest/best option, but theres a new rail that fits over the whole top cover that looks pretty sturdy.

I would have a gunsmith install a Side Rail onto your AK (unless it already has one on the left side of the receiver) and then check out the POSP scopes with the AK Mount.
