I`m looking to get an AK front sight tool. What is the best one to get? Tapco? Chinese?

Stay away from the cheap chinese made C clamp style tool. The metal is soft and last time I looked, the hole was sized for the Chinese sight slide - too small for Warsaw Pact rifles.
The TAPCO tool will work as will several others.

Magna-Matic Armorer Tools are hard to beat, and I have more than a few AK sight adjustment tools.

Tapco sight tool is great lifetime warranty also. I had my tool break on my tantal because the front sight was so tight. Tapco gave me another for free.

Another vote for the Tapco. I've had mine for years and have used it on at least a dozen different AKs and SKS and it has never not done what I needed it to.

+1 Magna-Matic

Get the Magnamatic. The Tapco is a POS that might work or might not. I had a stubborn front sight post that would NOT turn (elevation, not windage!) and the Tapco simply bent out of shape and was then useless for anything but a paperweight. Bought the Magnamatic, and it worked like a charm. I have used it on 3 different rifles since, and windage adjustments are so so much easier. The quality of the Magnamatic is like comparing a Snap On Wrench to one made in China from the bargain table at a dime store.

Are you sure you didn't have one of the Chinese made tools TAPCO used to sell (and replaced with their US made one free)?
The Chinese made tool TAPCO replaced did just what you have described when I used it. The replacement US made tool has worked 100%.
