Has anyone here built or has had an AMD-65 built on a parts kit that looked in kind of rough shape.  The only reason that I ask because I am going to be having one built on a Global 1mm receiver by AK-USA and my kit is in kind of rough condition.  Most of the finish is worn off of the gun and a couple of the parts needed replacing like the receiver cover due to some dents and a crack.

The only reason that I decided to keep the kit is because the bore of the barrel appears to be in good shape.  I cleaned it up and the bore is nice and shinny and appears to have some wear but not to bad.  I just want to know how yours gun came out, if you had a kit in this kind of condition.  Thanks.

Of the kits I ordered they came in good to very good condition. I still have a couple of the better kits left. I built the worst one first, and after having it praked it looked great and functioned just as well.

After park and gunkote you won't know the difference.

Use a light grade of sand and sandblast the hell out of everything, then gunkote it. It'll be real purdy!

It has been my experience that most surplus military arms have far more external wear than internal. In most militaries a soldier carries his issued rifle all over hells half-acre during training but only fires the rifle a few times a year. This will cause a rifle that has actually been fired very little to appear to be beat to hell.

Oh yea!  exactly + 1

EVen the worst AMD kits are better than 95% of the FAL kits I've come across and I have made those fal kits a thing of beauty after park and gun kote.

I'VE BUILT 3 AMD-65 KITS, 2 FOR ME AND 1 FOR A HIGHWAY PATROL FRIEND HIS COST HIM OVER $100 FOR KIT AND WAS ALL MISSMATCHED NUMBERS,STILL MADE NICE SHOOTERS. MINE COST ABOUT $60 FROM TAPCO AND BOTH LOOKED NEW ALL SHOOT LIKE A HOUSE ON FIRE. THAT 1.6 MM RECIEVER FOR THE FIRST 2 REQUIRED MILLING TUNIONS TO FIT WHICH WASN'T FUN. I ALSO HAD TO REMOVE SAFTY STOP PORTION UNDER MAG LOCK AS THICKER RECIEVER WOULD'NT LET MAG COM UP AT REAR AND CAUSED 3 POINT JAMS ON HIS GUN. MINE FUCTIONED FINE BUT  I MODIFIED MY SAFETY STOP JUST TO BE SAFE. GREAT GUNS LOTS OF FUN.
