I am thinking about getting a new chrome lined barrel for my AMD. Does anyone know how hard it is to install this?

I'd ask the AK builders, but from what I know, it's pretty hard. It's not like an AR where you can remove the barrel fairly easily. I believe they are pressed in with a shop press and then pinned/riveted into the receiver. It's not really a design conducive to barrel swaps, the mentality is that they're so cheap to produce that you can just get a new one (if you're in an Eastern Bloc military, of course).

What's wrong with the original barrel? Hungarians are already chrome lined, as far as I know.

My AMD-65 from TGI was already chrome-lined.

Thanks for the replies guys, my barrel is chrome lined but while I was cleaning the barrel I looked down the barrel "just habit making sure its spotless" and I swear I am seeing a crack inside. This crack is maybe 3mm in length towards the end of the barrel

Probably a scratch or crack in the chrome lining. I would not replace it for that. Is the crack along the bore or across it? If along the bore, it could be anything including a scratch from a cleaning rod or a piece of grit on a bullet. A mark across the bore would be more problematic, like maybe broken chrome from a repaired earlier bend in the barrel. Tell us more because I can't tell much about it from the description.
