I have decided to build my AMD 65 kit that I received from Bocephus into an SBR.  I have 2 questions concerning the build.

1.  Do I have to worry about the US parts count for an SBR build?

2.  Is the fire control group that is shipped with the rifle semi auto.  The reason I am asking is that I have seen some Krinkov kits that claim to have full auto FCG's.  If  it is semi auto and I don't have to worry about the parts count, do I need to get one of the G2 FCG's or will the one supplied with the rifle work okay?

Thanks,

William

1. Most people say "NO", but I was told dering the AWB days that the AWB applied to SBRs, so I deduce that 922R probably applys. Unless I see a BATF&E letter on this subgect, I wouldn't risk it.

2. For the most part the FCG you get will be full-auto, probably just missing a few parts (if it does have all of the parts, then you just trash the what you don't need). Inorder to make it deffinantly semi-auto and legal you really should cut the tail off of the disconnecter (the part that sticks out behind the trigger) and grind the notch off of the bottom of the hammer, I don't know for sure if BATF&E requires this, but better safe than sorry.

As far as the parts count I cant say but if i were to guess I would say your probably fine without them since its a non sporting rifle but if it were me I would add them since they can easily be tracked down for under $50.

As far as the AMD fire control group the ones I have seen come with semi auto parts but that may very. In other kits I believe its common that the parts are full auto.

almost all come with f/a fcg
the amd has a fa gfc but most are missing the autosear (only part you cant legaly install in your gun)

Thanks for the replies.  Got an email from Bocephus informing me that the FCG shipped with his kits is semi, so it looks like I'm good to go.
